"Probable cause exists when the totality of the facts and circumstances known to the officer at the time are such that a reasonably prudent person would believe that the suspect is committing or has committed a criminal act." People v. Montgomery, 112 IL 2d. 517 (1986)

A man is walking on the sidewalk. Officers in a squad car notice the man walking. The man sees the squad car, stops, and then begins running in the opposite direction. The officers give chase and subsequently apprehended the man. Upon arrest, the man is found to have a gun concealed on his person; shortly thereafter, the officers determine that the man is a convicted felon.

Is there probable cause for the arrest?
