My Hilton brothers (and/or sisters) out there should feel their own brand of special terror when I mention the "Catch Me At My Best" program.
For those of you who want to follow along at home, it's essentially a comment-card system- the idea is someone fills one out for you if they find something you did particularly noteworthy, they're tallied up at the end of the month, and the person with the most cards gets a shitty 2 dollar keychain and t-shirt or whatever.
Which I wouldn't have too much of a problem with, if employees weren't allowed to fill them out for each other. So the restaurant people simply fill dozens of them out for each other, for the stupidest things imaginable. I cracked open the box to read them earlier tonight, because I can do things like that, and I found one filled out thusly:
From: [Dipshit Server A] I caught [Dipshit Server B] smiling at a guest.
Look, that is only special if you are me, because my face is frozen into a permanent rictus of contempt. Since you're not me, I'm pretty sure that doesn't count as going above and beyond the call of duty.
I have never gotten one of these cards, and I never will, because I am not a prostitute. If a guest feels like filling one out for me, fine, but I'm not going to ask them to.
(And yes, it's been awhile since I've posted, but the hotel's been relatively quiet for the past few days and I honestly wasn't filled with melodramatic rage about anything until tonight.)
