ok ok it's been three weeks since my last update. I've thought about updating but haven't felt like typing.
I went to my friend Debbie's wedding last week. I think that was the funniest wedding ceremony I've ever been to. The pastor kept cracking jokes and other stuff...but it totally is them. I had fun sitting around at the reception with my family and some close friend's of my brother, Stephanie and Aaron. I decided Stephanie would be a good friend to have and we should hang out...along with Krissy who was also hanging out with us at the reception. The cake was good and I didn't have to dance and I got a lot of compliments on my $13 dress from Ross...so I guess I'll wear it to the next wedding I'm attending in 4 weeks.
School has been ok. I keep procrastinating. My language game for my ESOL class was a hit and I got 100% credit for it. yeah! I have an art lesson plan to do Tuesday for that class that I'm a bit nervous about but at the same time excited...I'm having fun with it. It's on doing tissue paper collages like Eric Carle does. I decided Eric Carle books are great...or at least most of them. He's written quite a few. I have to work on the lesson plan with week (I've been painting tissue paper already to use in class) and on my classroom management plan. I"ve been putting that off all week and it's due Monday. I started it a while ago and it shouldn't be too bad...I hope. I think I can pull together stuff I liked from the books I've read for that class this semester. I'm glad I'm taking that class, I think it will be one of the more helpful ones. All teacher prep courses should have a GOOD classroom management class...in some programs it only gets mentioned in a chapter or something of one class. I mean classroom management and planning lessons are two of my biggest concerns as a future teacher...they go hand in hand too. But enough boring rambling about school.
Not too much else to mention I guess. It's Spring break this past week for the pre-k kids so I've been cleaning the office with my co-worker Colleen who is slightly OCD and can't work when there's a mess. The office has needed to be redone for a looong time. It looks way better. We made a teachers' resource area and break area too. I guess since it's Spring I'm in the mood for spring cleaning. I really want to organize our large art closet that people just throw things in. I don't really have the time to do that though and I don't think my boss would let me since I only work part time. Maybe when the semester is over I can get someone to help me with it some. I can't wait till Bridget and I can rearrange the pre-k room at the end of the school year either. It'll be swell.
So you can probably tell I've been looking through early childhood supply catalogs too probably for a project. I have a $15,000 budget for starting up an inclusive pre-k classroom and I'm going "gosh, I don't have enough money probably for all the things I want!" mostly because all the shelves and furniture is so dang expensive! I mean $300+ for a simple wooden shelf? I understand they're durable but they can't be that hard to construct! Someone is making a lot of money somewhere I think. But this is actually kind of a fun project even though it's a lot of work. I only have most of the art supplies on the list so far..still have $13,800 or so left so I'm doing good! I don't know how I'm going to fit 4 preschool classroom observations in the next 3 weeks but I'm going to try! I hope schools cooperate with me. I have FBI clearance to work with children I'm not a threat! I swear!
hmm I still haven't gone swimming yet and the weather has been in the 80's for a while. I think I should tomorrow...if I get enough schoolwork done. I should get back to figuring out my child guidance philosophy.
