Another year older in a day

Mar 17, 2007 08:51

Isn't it funny how one day you can be one age and then the next day suddenly you're a whole year older? heh.

The conference for work went well. We had about 30 people but we sold like $1000 worth of products. Not bad. It was a long day though. I was up at 6 am and didn't get home till after 5 pm. I was exhausted. I told myself it was ok to go to bed at 9:20 since with the time change it was really 10:20. I think I'm still kind of messed up with the time change...except I keep getting it backwards. My mom is too.
She told me "well it's really 10:30 and not 9:30 so that's why I'm so tired" "
"Um mom...it's really 8:30 not 10:30...we went an hour forward not backwards."
"oh..yeah"

hehe
Spring Break is almost over. I haven't done as much homework as I should have but who cares. I've pretty much caught up on my reading and hopefully the projects I'm putting off till tomorrow won't be too difficult. Does anyone have any ideas for an art lesson plan for like k-3 grade range? it's hard just coming up with some random plan (that theoretically is part of a larger unit). I have a rough draft lesson plan due Tuesday along with a language game which I kinda know what I'm doing. I have to find some folk/fairy tale literature to review and do a demonstration on "story mappin". Online demonstration....hmm yeah that will be quite a "demonstration".

My birthday was nice...nothing exciting. I've come to the conclusion that getting older isn't really all that exciting and neither are the associated birthdays. I had to go into work but I didn't have to work with the kids most of the day since they got another staff person to come in. yeah! Then my grandma took me to lunch and we went shopping. I wanted to find a spring dress since I have 2 spring weddings to attend. Why is it that the "spring" colors seem to be red, black, and white? Or that they have ugly, large I guess art deco type of flowery patterns? Seriously...not so cute. I didn't really find anything that fit me that I really liked..so grandma gave me a gift certificate.
I came home and my brother asked me if I wanted to hang out with a friend of ours and her friend and so I agreed. They made me decide what we were going to do...I don't like being decisive! We went to Barnes and Noble because I told my brother I wanted children's books for my birthday. So we browsed the children's book section. I got "Morris the Moose", "Go Away Dog", and "The Butter Battle Book". I decided since I'm going to be a teacher I should start collecting a library. I thought about joining a book club but I don't think it's really worth it. I think maybe amazon and sales at book stores might work better. So many good books to get! I forget how many children's books are published each year...but it's a ridiculous number.
Oh and Krissy (my friend) and her friend "cookied" me and gave me large chocolate chunch cookies from the cafe there. I decided that using "cookie" as a verb will be fun as well. I figure they're English majors so if they do it then I can do it.
We hung out at Krissy's house some and had root beer floats....in tiny glasses. Krissy told us some stories of the weird things that happen to her. She has the funniest stories. I'm not sure why really odd things always happen to her or why really weird guys like to stalk her. Nothing weird really ever happens to me. I think it's because I don't hang out at UCF enough...thank God.
Mom made dinner even though she was on a liquid diet because she was having a colonoscopy the next day. We had shrimp...mmm. My brother and I were the only ones eating it since my sister doesn't like shrimp and my younger brother and dad weren't there. The cheesecake wasn't very good though...it was totally not minty! How disappointing! I decided I'm going to make a better recipe sometime and say it's mine.
Oh and I got the ASL New Testament DVD set for my birthday from my parents and an awesome card with snoopy and chocolate chip cookies.
I was lame and fell asleep before 10:30 on my birthday...but I was tired since I didn't sleep well the night before.
Nothing else exciting or noteworthy in my week really. I'm disappointe my VPK kids don't appreciate mint chocolate chip ice cream like I do though...well Joshua really seemed to since he had it all over his face as well as on his arms and wherever else it dripped. Oh and it's really funny to watch 2-5 year olds try to play on a slip and slide...most of them didn't get the whole slipping and sliding part.
I'm going to Kathryn's in a bit to hang out and then we're going to Meghan and Joseph's BBQ/Birthday party (all cousins of mine). They turn 21 today...and Kathryn's birthday is in like a week and a half. So many March birthdays! My grandma turns 71 in like 2 weeks and leaves for Bangladash on her birthday for 2 weeks. My grandmother is amazing.
