Body and Appearance

1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

Tallish and lanky. He stands about 5' 9", and while most of his weight is muscle, his weight isn't much, and it's all lean.

2. How old is he?

Fourteen.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?

His natural posture is actually fairly proper - straight-backed, hips aligned with shoulders, etc. In the interest of not... looking like a graceful thing, though, he usually slouches, slumps, saunters, and so on.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

Healthy as a horse. He's an athlete, and his captain cuts him no fucking slack.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

Gracefully. He's naturally inclined to walk toe-to-heel, but walks heel-to-toe for the same reason he slouches. He can't quite wring all the grace out of his walk, though.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?

He thinks he's all right - definitely not 'pretty' or 'handsome,' but 'hot' could apply. He has a roguish, rebellious look to him.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Fairly clear and pale, winter complexion.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.

His hair is longish, naturally black, but he's bleached the living fuck right out of it. It's silver-white and somewhat coarse and rough, because his constant conditioning can't keep up with the frequent bleaching. It's usually covered in mousse, so you can hardly tell - he wears it spiked.

9. What color are his eyes?

Golden-amber.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

He has a beauty mark on the right side of his face, halfway between his lower lip and his jaw.

11. What are his chief tension centers?

Typically headaches behind the eyes, and often tense muscles in his neck and shoulders.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

Niou will throw together jeans, sneakers and a white t-shirt and pair them with a dress vest and a fedora, and come out looking like he's going to hold the door for you while he lifts your wallet. He tends toward cool, dark colours, and tends to err on the side of semi-formal.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

Always. He tends to wear his clothing fairly snugly, and even if he does happen to be uncomfortable, he's a master at pretending.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

'On the job' in this case has to imply tennis. He has a uniform for that! Track pants or shorts, a polo shirt and a track jacket, all emblazoned with the school's emblem.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

Boxers or commando, depending on how he's feeling or where he's headed.

===

Speech

1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

Tenor, a little rough, usually light in tone, but with a fair range that shows when he's pretending to be someone else, or when he's highly emotional.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

He strings words together, truncates them, bastardizes and basically murders them. He drawls and slurs a little, and he tends to speak loudly and theatrically. When he's being serious, his voice drops drastically in volume and pitch, and while he doesn't drawl quite as badly, it's still minorly present - that's natural.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

He grew up in Nagoya, and speaks (some pretty deliberately exaggerated) Nagoya-ben.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

Japanese is his native language, and he speaks several different dialects proficiently. His English is good, though his pronunciation is better than his actual comprehension. He also speaks some French, German and Russian; more than conversational, but less than fluent.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

All. The. Time. He spends a lot of time pretending to be other people, so he switches languages, dialects, voices, posture, mannerisms, etc. at the drop of a hat.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

He's excellent at improv.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Incredibly eloquent, unless you're asking him to talk about his feelings.

===

Mental and Emotional

1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?

Pretty damn brilliant when it comes to math, and street-smart to boot.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

Always thinks on his feet. His brain is ten steps ahead of him at all times.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

Logical, practical, rational, sometimes even cold. He's not very sympathetic, has little interest in others, and tends to put himself before everyone else.

4. What kind of education has the character had?

Public elementary school in Nagoya, then private junior high in Kanagawa. He's still attending.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

Tennis, math. Math. If he doesn't become a con man, he'll probably be an accountant.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

Introvert. You'd never know it looking at him, but he keeps himself well-hidden.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

Volatile at best. He's difficult to understand, because he hides much of his true emotion. He does, however, have some triggers that can set him off into anger, withdrawal, discomfort, etc. In general, he's pessimistic, but he has a lot of ambition, and he knows his abilities (which are considerable), so he doesn't always come off that way.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

He's always withdrawn, but he seems to present himself readily, eagerly and often exasperatingly to new people. He handles new and unfamiliar situations very rationally, being pretty level-headed.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

Act.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?

Fight.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

Dark, dirty and often complex. He enjoys a bit of schadenfreude, macabre and sexual humour, but he also enjoys a good practical joke. He's at his best when he's fucking with other people.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

Not as such, but it wouldn't be a stretch for Niou, taken out of a stable environment, to be diagnosed with a number of things: neurosis, dependent personality disorder, bipolar disorder, antisocial personality disorder, etc.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?

Probably a number of moments in his childhood - his mother was never supportive, tended to treat him harshly, but was luckily rarely around - as well as many more recent ones: the collapse and subsequent hospitalization of his captain, every victory and loss on the court that season, and especially Rikkai's loss at Nationals.

14. What does he fear?

Being alone. Being dependent. Failing. Losing. Dying.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?

Getting home someday, for starters. Winning Nationals again with his team. Robbing a bank.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?

That he's terrified of being too dependent on his partner.

===

Relationships

1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.

Absent father, largely-absent and verbally abusive mother? Let's go with 'rocky.'

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

He has an older sister, who's basically raised him and his younger brother. While none of the three of them are close, they look out for each other. He gives his sister a hard time and his brother an even harder one, but when push comes to shove, he'll come through for them.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?

None known.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?

His entire team, basically. More on them below.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

Yagyuu Hiroshi. They met in their first year of junior high and wound up playing tennis together. ... That makes it sound so simple. - Truthfully, they're two halves of a whole, two people so alike and so intertwined that they practically hinge on each other. They finish one another's thoughts and sentences, and they know each other so intimately that they can pass as one another on the court and in their daily lives.

6. Does he have other close friends?

The rest of the tennis team: Yukimura Seiichi, their captain, the boy he'd follow to the ends of the earth, whose health and happiness is just as paramount to Niou as it is to the rest of the team; Sanada Gen'ichirou, their vice-captain, the boy who held the team together when Yukimura was gone, who disciplines and strengthens them all and supports their captain in his times of need; Yanagi Renji, their technician, who knows his teammates inside and out, probably the only one who can always, always tell Niou and Yagyuu apart; Kirihara Akaya, the baby of the team, the kid who Niou and his teammates are constantly looking out for, who Niou is sincerely and silently proud of; Kuwahara Jackal, the mother of the team, who always concerns himself with Niou despite his rough attitude, and Marui Bunta, the genius of the team, who somehow, somehow manages to lift Niou's spirits, nevermind that he gets on Niou's nerves.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?

He makes acquaintances easily. He'll talk to anyone, but it's very hard to get to know him.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?

Friends.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?

Uh... single? Sort of. He's in some kind of very deep entanglement with his partner, and is therefore unavailable.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?

See above.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?

His first crush was probably some girl in elementary school who didn't put up with his shit and shoved him into a puddle one day, or something. His latest was Kujikawa Rise, the girl who could keep up with him, and who gave him hope in his partner's absence.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?

Wit, intelligence. The capability and willingness to keep pace with him, to take risks and take chances, the patience to put up with him and the stability he needs to survive.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?

No, no, no, no, no. He doesn't need small children imprinting on him and making his mistakes.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?

Not precisely as such. He has plenty of rival tennis players, but none specific to him - except maybe Kaidou Kaoru, the only other person his partner's ever switched places with.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?

Complicated. He's more frequently and more easily physically attracted to females, so strictly sexually speaking, he's probably a 1.5 or a 2. Romantically speaking, he's more frequently attracted to males, because he sees them as more stable, more reliable and stronger than females, and typically better able to keep up with him. Yeah, that's pretty sexist. Romantically, he'd be more like a 5.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?

Optimistic. At this point, it's not paramount, because he's still a virgin. But once he gets a taste of it, he'll be pretty well hooked.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?

Turn-ons include cosplay, roleplay, public arousal, forbidden scenarios, dominant/aggressive partners, rough sex and so much more. Turn-offs include vanilla (also known as boring) sex, sexual torture, longterm D/s scenes, and literally dirty sex, among others. I'm pretty sure half of his turn-ons count as weird bedroom habits, so let's leave it at that.

Beliefs

1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit the type?

Sagittarius. He's got the adventurous spirit, the want for independence, the intellect, the humour, the tactlessness, the restlessness.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?

Neither. He has no belief or interest in a higher being or any form of spiritualism.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

Barely. I think young kids and grandmothers are off-limits, and anyone, of course, who matters to someone he cares about. There are very few people he'd ever put before himself, but those few people would make it easy to compromise his ethics: if it came down to a bus full of children or his partner, there'd never be any question.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?

Completely indifferent, if occasionally curious. He doesn't understand people who believe strongly in something they cannot see or prove, and sometimes the want to will grab him.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?

He thinks dogs are stupid (unfounded), and that most rich people are heartless - he comes from a family with money; his mother was never very loving, and neither is he. He's also a little sexist, which is probably 95% because he doesn't know many girls.

===

Daily Life

1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?

Between his mother's money and the money he 'earns,' himself, he's somewhere between comfortable and wealthy.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?

Middle-class. He lives in a nice neighbourhood, but aside from that, it doesn't affect him much - his mother's the one who cons rich upper-class men, so she's the one living the dream.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?

It's an apartment, but by Japanese standards, a large one. Since he lives with his sister and brother, only his room is Niou Kingdom, and he rarely allows anyone else into it, even his friends. He tends to want to crash at their house, rather than the other way around.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?

Well, the good thing about his mother is that she does pay for all the basic necessities and then some. He doesn't have to worry about tuition, food, clothing, rent, utilities, etc. He does, however, spend money on tennis equipment, clothes (because you can never have too many clothes), music and his cat.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?

He's still a kid; he goes to school and play tennis. He makes his money by lifting wallets and conning unsuspecting citizens, though. He's good at it and he enjoys it.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?

Tennis, math, dance, petty larceny, breaking and entering, feeding stray cats.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

Niou is the weirdest eater. He eats shit like 'everything pizza' (literally, like, everything he could find to put on it, sometimes including fruits, candy, various seasonings...), and then he turns around and has a salad and a pretentious white chocolate latte. He takes liberties in eating whatever he wants when Yanagi isn't monitoring his diet, because he's active enough that the calories slide right off.

===

Sexuality

1. Give a description of his genitals (if any).

He's nothing to write home about in the size department (length or girth), really, though he's got nothing to be embarrassed about, either. He's circumcised and keeps clean; doesn't shave, but he does trim.

2. Any size preference?

With regards to women, he likes them tallish, but shorter than him, with large breasts and ample hips and ass; as for men, they have to be taller than him, and he likes broad shoulders. He's not experienced enough to be picky about cock size in men yet, but once he is, he'll like them erring on the side of long and not too thick.

3. Sexual orientation?

Didn't I answer this question already?

4. Describe his best sexual experience.

His experiences are kind of limited, but I'll have to go with the little adventure he and Yagyuu had on Crossdressing Day.

5. Describe his worst sexual experience.

Probably... the same as above, since it got kind of messy.

6. Is he a dominant or submissive partner?

Submissive. That's a very emphatic period.

7. What is his favourite position in bed?

His favourite position doesn't actually involve a bed. He best likes being fucked against a wall.

8. Describe his number one fantasy.

Niou's favourite fantasy doesn't actually involve Niou, except in an observational capacity. It does, however, involve Yagyuu, Yukimura, and alternating fights for dominance and moments of complete submission on Yagyuu's part. Ideally initiated by Yukimura and a few glasses of wine. Niou would love to watch them struggle, then watch Yagyuu yield, first seething, then penitent; watch Yagyuu please Yukimura before eventually refusing and fighting back, and watch Yukimura slowly but surely work him back down to acquiescence.

9. Does he have any sensitive areas or turn-ons? How about areas not to be touched/triggers?

His legs are surprisingly sensitive. The backs of his knees, ankles, his feet, hips, thighs. He melts fast if you get close to his ear and whisper or talk low (and dirty). No triggers or off-limits areas that I know of.

10. Does he masturbate? If he does, does he use toys or just his hands?

Hands-only, usually, though he's not above humping a pillow or a bed, a counter or a table or another piece of furniture.

11. Where is his favourite place to have sex?

Against a wall, anywhere, but especially in semi-public.

12. Describe something he wants to try out but haven't had the chance to.

Getting off on a crowded train, especially if his partner's across the car from him with the remote to a vibrator.

13. What are his kinks/sex acts?

Think I answered this one, too.

14. Does he sleep naked or in pyjamas?

Naked if he can get away with it - if he's guaranteed to be alone, or if he's with a lover. Otherwise, typically just boxers.

15. What was their first time like?

The closest thing to qualifying is probably this encounter.

16. After-sex habits?

Showering. Forever. He can't just fall asleep after sex, that's... not an option. If it weren't for the tennis, he'd have a smoke and then shower.

17. Anything else to elaborate on?

Did I mention he's a freak? He'd love to have sex as Yagyuu.
