Tavros' thoughts and feelings on his fellow trolls (and the humans?).
Aradia was once his best friend - arguably one of his only friends. They were a rad, unstoppable duo, and how cool is the name 'Team Charge?' So cool. She understood him, she accepted and supported him.
After the accident, Aradia changed. Tavros didn't understand it; she was distant, hollow, apathetic. She was absolutely nothing like the Aradia he knew, the vibrant girl who led Team Charge with a lust for adventure, who didn't mind taking detours, who loved the unexpected and loved her partner. She didn't care about anything anymore, and the only thing Tavros could see that had changed was him.
With the idea that his accident must have caused her to change, Tavros stopped reaching out for her. All of his attempts were met with the same eerie emptiness, which he found unsettling, so he gradually gave up and resigned himself to being alone.
Then, unexpectedly, he found something of a friend in Vriska, as she led him through LOSAZ. She wasn't the friendliest, of course, but he was honestly having fun, and she wasn't actively hurting him. Even her usual bullshit when they met up in LOMAT didn't deter him completely - it wasn't the worst she could be doing. Besides, they went fucking treasure hunting after that. He loved every minute of it. It was almost like being back to his FLARPing days, with a new partner and a new land -
And then Aradia showed up. And she mercilessly beat Vriska nearly to death, right in front of a helpless Tavros. That was the final straw, effectively, in completely destroying his image of his old friend. The event completely traumatized him, especially when coupled with Vriska's actions afterward. Between the two of them (and his own indecision and weakness), his interest in the game was completely killed. He retreated to Prospit to play in the dream world as if none of it had ever happened.
He wanted nothing to do with Aradia after that. He no longer even regarded her as an old friend; she was a completely different person, and not one that he wanted to associate with, as terrifying as she was to him.
After his death, however, everything changed again: he changed, Aradia changed, and in their dream-bubble-adventures, she was the fearless leader of Team Charge that he remembered. He embraced her and the dream bubbles wholeheartedly, happy to have his old partner back.
Wow, that got out of hand.
Sollux is difficult for Tavros to interact with. He's fickle, snarky, bitchy, not as loud as Karkat, but just as mean. Luckily, they have little to no reason to interact. Tavros doesn't dislike him, but he's never eager to speak with him, either.
I think that between Tav's accident and Vriska's questbed death, Tavros actually felt sorry for Sollux - he'd heard his name from Aradia before, and knew that they were close, so he assumed Sollux must be suffering as well, now that Aradia had changed. He was always somewhat uneasy around him, though, and didn't know how to approach the troll, much less the subject, so nothing ever came of it.
Karkat is a horrorterror. He's loud, insulting, mean, intimidating, etc. Tavros doesn't dislike him, but he finds him difficult to interact with, much like Sollux. He does, however, as most of them do, respect Karkat as their leader. He trusts Karkat to know what's up, to tell him what to do, to give him sound advice. He looks up to him, in some ways - he'd like to someday be as self-assured (lmfao) and decisive as Karkat is. (He just doesn't want to be as mean.)
Nepeta is not a horrorterror. For all that she and Tav don't know each other too well, he looks at her as a friend. She's friendly, unassuming, not a dick, and she likes to play! Tavros treads a little lightly because of Equius' looming presence, but he genuinely likes Nepeta and gets along well with her.
Kanaya is also a friend, albeit of a different sort. Tavros often looks to her for advice, and she's frequently been the first (read: only) to step between him and Vriska when Vriska started getting nasty. He genuinely appreciates her help, even when it's a little extreme (see chainsawing legs off in a bid for higher self-esteem). He owes her a lot, especially re: his self-image; she's been helping him to better himself on that front ever since the accident. Her biggest contribution, undoubtedly, was her collaboration with Equius to get Tavros a new pair of legs, as she believed this would greatly improve his self-esteem (which it has!).
Terezi is someone he only knows vaguely. Prior to SGRUB, he only knew her as part of Team Scourge. Like Vriska, she intimidated him, although he never saw her as being as dangerous as her partner was - he found her to be somewhat more approachable, probably because she didn't treat him like absolute shit, the way Vriska did.
While he's aware of the part he played in her being blinded, I don't think that she ever let him in on the fact that Vriska was gunning for her because of the whole cycle of revenge, mostly because she's not actually a huge bitch, and she's sure Tavros would take it badly, and feel incredibly guilty about it. Besides that, letting him in on the fact that she took such drastic measures against Vriska as a result of their 'accidents' might out her as being really quite compassionate, for a troll. And we wouldn't want that.
Post-Hivebent, he's a little more friendly toward her on the whole, being more confident, himself, and with there being less in the way. She's really quite distracted with game business, but he doesn't mind. She keeps an eye out for him, when she has the chance, and I think she was really quite unhappy about his death - moreso than she let on. Given their history, she was sure it was Vriska before she ever got any proof, and like with Tavros' accident, she felt somewhat responsible - Vriska, she feels, is and has been her responsibility. This is actually the root of much of her attention toward Tavros.
I did not expect this one to get out of hand.
Vriska will probably get out of hand, though. ... When I do it later.
