darnit. someone else has already thought of 'hope on a rope' !! i thought i'd make millions. blast.

we did a short tour thing this past weekend. it was planned around something called 'break-fest' in mountain view. but we also played shows in santa cruz and oakland.

there weren't that many people at the fest. i can say that the whole trip wouldn't have been worth it had we only played that. it was at a park and the locals weren't amazing. but jason clackley came all the way down from seattle for this! and mother duckr & the eggs played. and prohibition hearthrob played. i like all of them. but it definitely wouldn't have been worth it for us to drive all the way up there just for that.

at the same time, i'm really glad that kids want to do things like this in their crappy suburban towns. mountain view seems like a terrible place, so it's to be a part of their attempts at actually building some sort of community. i may have suggested that they have only local-ish bands played for the first time for the fest. and get LOTS of kids out there. seriously, there were only like 6 or 7 local kids there that didn't play. and then maybe the next year invite out of towners.

oh well. it happened. and the trip was worth it cause the other shows were really great!

santa cruz was the first night. and 215 storey. what an awesome house! 11 people live there. there's a castle in the backyard. whoa. yah. and all the bands that played were so good! and many friends came out!

sunny afternoon was so good! i've pretty much heard all of jordan's sngs before. but it was great to see her play them!
then kitchen played. (members of little teeth! and squeeky rice!). they took forever to set up and get started cause they had so much stuff! but it was awesome. they'll come down to santa barbara sometime soon. and will be helping us with a show in the bay late june.
and then c(i)tron played. one kids with a beat machine/keyboard. and the songs were amazing. i need to find it on the internet. thanks for reminding me.
then paper crocodiles played. so good! 3 folks played sort of old-timey stuff. but more folky-pop stuff. with guitar, banjo, fiddle, trombone, hand bells, slide whistle... it was really fun!
and then we played i think. there were so many people there! and i think we played a good set. it was really fun anyhow. and we sold some sounds which was cool.
and then prohibition hearthrob played. i used to be all about folk punk. but lately i've been sort of in and out. but i like him, and his songs. it sucked though cause people were so loud during his set. the party people came right when he started to play. nbjvfs. they were told to leave and eventually they did. "THIS IS A SHOW! NOT A PARTY!" it's a bummed that every town has to deal with this. this is why every town needs a good all-ages space.

overall.. success! we went and stayed at the crystal palace that night. they're all tooo funny.

next morning we got breakfast and their favorite breakfast played. they go every weekend. haha.went to a bookstore. candy store. then tyler went and got shaving cream so he could explode the bottles... and he did on his drive way. i can't keep up with them. ha.

then we caravaned with md&ee and pro-throb to mountain view for break-fest. and i've already sort of talked about this, so i'll skip. but then we headed to oakland.

to the honey hive, which is davyd nereo's house. really nice house also. all of us down in sb got so bummed about the cool houses we saw, cause we can't find anything in santa barbara!!!!!

the honey hive was hosting this block party. it was funny. there were a bunch of folks in the little backyard area. it was cool. there was this one band that played first. real physchadelic. it was cool. can't remember what it was called. the soft shells? maybe? and then we played and lots of people came inside and it was just really awesome. friends came out. and it was a lot of fun.

and then davyd played! his songs are so amazing. at times he had a chello/saw playing with him. he also had a chorus. called 'the harmonies' i think. so amazing! i was smiling pretty much the whole time! seriously. and then one of the harmonies.. isobel.. played some songs. they were so good! found out that she and the saw played, along with 3 others, are in a band called the delicate situation. it's really good! and then this guy named eric played a really good song too. gosh, people up there play such nice songs!

it was a really fun show. we all talked about how it just felt like hang out and playing songs with friends. it was so relaxed and nice feeling. then we went with adrian and elia to adrian's house and just hung out there and slept there. it was fun hanging out with them.

in the morning adrian made us food. mmm. then we went for a little walk around town. then reb and mal and i headed back to mountain view. the kid that asked us to play break-fest also asked us to play at the coffee shop he worked at. and we could get sandwiches and some gas moneys. and it was fine. it sounded nice in there. there were these three ids there, thought, that came to thw santa cruz show and the break-fest. i liked them! it's fun when people follow you around to your shows. heh.

after that rebecca and mallory busked for like a hour. it sounded so good. all these older women really liked it. and these street dudes. ha. they got like 30 bucks i think they said. then we headed back home. stopped in slo for burritos first.

it was a pretty tiring weekend. sort of worries about tour because it'll be 2 months of shows! not just a weekend. but it also won't be 2 shows a day and me driving most of the time. and i should say that i drove most of the time cause i'm a turd and won't let anyone else drive. although i finally gave in a let mallory drive from slo back to sb. heh.

alright. we have a bunch of shows coming up. and then tour. and that's totally coming together. slowly.... really excited!!
