“Kii…?”

“Uh, okay.” She nodded awkwardly then headed for the said door.

“It’s clear.”

We went in through that door and acted normally. Not much people were there.

“Okay, cameras on 10:30 and 1 o’clock.” Kiru said.

I kinda understood what she was talking about and looked behind me. “Also on 7:30.”

She turned to me and confirmed. “8 o’clock, actually. But good enough. Impressive. You’re catching up.”

“10 4. Take the elevator farthest from the window.”

We walked to the elevator and took the shaft Ichihara instructed. I remembered something and I felt like I had to take the weight off my shoulders.

“Kii, just so you know, I didn’t plan what happened in that alley. Myoubi used my necklace as a tracker. She knew I’d where it some time. Yabu was provoked by the mere sight of the pendant. I didn’t know it meant so much. Sorry.”

She nodded. “It wasn’t your fault. We’re here.”

The elevator opened at the designated floor level and I led her to my room. The keycard, part of the package Myoubi made me find through a treasure hunt, opened the room. It was an ordinary room and had nothing special. Myoubi just wanted that to be my room but I never went there. I decided to stay in my father’s house where I belong. Being here would mean I was under her watch and I didn’t like that. It was just my second time to enter the room, the first being on the weekend.

“Here’s the laptop.” I placed it on the table. She immediately sat on the chair and took out a cable and her palmtop.

“Ready. Plug it in.”

Kiru plugged the cable to both my laptop and her palmtop and windows started appearing then disappearing as fast as they appeared.

“Okay. I’m in.”

We might not be seeing Ichihara now but we could both sense the excitement on her face as it was visible in her tone.

“Would they know if I come?” Kiru asked.

“Minimal possibility. There are too little guards on all levels.”

We looked at the schematics and some orange, bordering red, figures were present.

“Those are mostly the people present.” Kiru explained. “We detect them through infrared.”

“You said mostly. What are the others?” I asked.

“Anything that releases heat.”

“Okay, nuke is most likely on the 5th floor down. That place has the most guards.”

“Copy.” We replied in unison.

“Will we need to use that keycard again?” She asked me.

“Yeah. In the elevator.”

“Give it to me.”

I gave her the keycard and she inserted into one of her little gadgets she was starting to bring out one by one.

“Ichi, duplicate the card. Change the profile. Keep access level high.”

“On it.”

A few minutes later, Kiru handed the card back to me and she was able to get herself another card. It looks so similar to mine but the serial number was different.

‘Okay, you’re Mitsukara Ibuka.”

“What kind of name is that?!”

I chuckled. It was a really weird name.

“You’re a guard, class A. The real guy’s guarding the nuke.”

“You could’ve given me a better name.” She whined.

“Hi, Ibuka-chan!” I teased her.

“Shut up.” She said then pouted.

I poked her cheeks and she flushed red. “Stop it…” She whined.

“Okay, lovey doveys, time to get going…”

We looked away from each other. It was awkward enough.

Kiru unplugged her palmtop and we had all the information we needed accessible through it. I led her to the service elevator. I was about to click the open button to access it but Kiru stopped me.

“Ichi, calibrate time frame on service elevator camera.”

“Wait a second.”

“Done.”

We went in the elevator and she used the duplicate keycard and slid it. I pressed the ‘5’ button and the elevator started moving, leading us to the 5th floor underground.

“Anticipate guards once doors open.”

Kiru hopped on my back.

“Hey! What are you doing?!” I asked.

“Give me a lift, will you?” She replied. “I gotta get up there.”

She was indicating the shaft’s ceiling. I pushed her higher and she pushed the ceiling open. The second before, she was on my back, a second later, she was up there on the roof.

“Ki-?”

She shut the door without explanation.

“Haru-chan, act normal. Pretend I’m not here.” She said through the com.

Ting.

The door opened revealing the guards who greeted me politely. “Ohayo gozaimasu. Miura-sama.”

“Lead him to the elevator. Then clear the way.”

“Ano, I have a question.” I told him then beckoned him in the shaft.

He obediently followed me in the elevator and I pointed to the buttons on the side of the elevator. “Which button goes-?”

“What the- ?!”

Kiru jumped down and a slit on the throat and the guard was dead.

“Good job!” She praised me. “Looks like you’re getting the hang of it!”

“I wish.”

**

“Matsumoto-sama, a large amount of specks is entering the country.” Kamenashi told him. “Specks look as if they’re for a nuke.”

Matsumoto plastered a shock look on his face. Time to start the show. Kiru, I gave you more than thirty minutes heads up. I hope your operation’s running smoothly. “Confirm your intel then alert the government.”

“Hai.” Kamenashi left, only to return a second later. “By the way, we might need Ichihara’s hands.”

“She’s unavailable today. She’s called in sick.” He replied. “Do what you can without her.”

MIURA HARUMA

She took some more people out as we sneaked our way around. We were quiet and no one noticed us. Ichihara was doing magic with the cameras, making us invisible.

“5 o’clock.”

Kiru fired at the directed angle and another guard was down. I felt useless. I wanted to protect her. But it was like she was doing it for me. I haven’t even fired a single bullet.

“2:30”

I fired my gun. Luckily, I hit the guy.

“Not bad.” She said. “Where now?”

“Coast is clear for another ten yard. Keep going.”

“Copy.” She said, “Haru, where’s Yabu?”

“Near the specks.” I replied. “He’s being guarded.”

“He’s right. He’s right beside the specks. Same guards guarding the weapon guard him.”

“Copy.”

We went on, hiding in every corner, item or anything that can prevent others from seeing us.

“Kiru, the Agency’s informed. They might intervene in a while.”

“Copy.”

We were getting closer. We could already see the guards by the specks. Kiru looked through her scope. She aimed her gun.

“Kii, don’t.” I said. “You might hit Yabu. We’ll have to move closer.”

She sighed and nodded. We went closer and closer but we couldn’t really get any farther because there was an open space between the location and us. We could already see Yabu. He was bruised, weak and a gag was on his mouth. He had his hands tied on his back as he sat on a chair. He was facing our direction.

“We need something to let him know we’re here.” I said.

She brought out a compact mirror from her pocket.

“Kii, this is no time to be conscious for how you look!” I hissed.

“I’m not gonna use it on myself!’ She hissed back.

She brought out a little flashlight and directed its light to the mirror. She angled the mirror to Yabu’s direction, moving it side to side. A little nod was what he returned. He knows there was someone there to get him out.

“Okay, here’s what we’re gonna do.” Kiru said. “You’re gonna throw them some fog then I’m gonna grab Yabu. Once I give a green light, bomb the place.”

That was quite simple. I nodded my head. It was okay, except for one little part. Kiru’s going to risk her life. I might be new to these things but I know once I start the fog, the guards will open fire.

“Wait, Kii, we can’t do it that way.” I said.

“What? Why?”

“It’s too dangerous.” I said. “We both know you’re bound to start a gun battle.”

“Then what do you propose we do?”

“Do you trust me?” I asked.

She looked away. I couldn’t see her face so I couldn’t read her. For a few moments, she was quiet.

“Do you trust me?” I repeated.

“Yes.”

“Then follow my lead.” I said. She nodded.

I stood up from the spot we were hiding. Shock was visible in her face. “What are you doing?!” She hissed. I didn’t reply.

I walked to the guards watching the specks and Yabu. I went nearer and one of them stopped me.

“Miura-sama, you cannot pass.” He said.

“Who are you to tell me that?!” I exclaimed.

“I- I have my orders.” He replied.

“Then at least let me talk to him.” I gestured at Yabu.

“That’s not possible, Miura-sama.”

“What if I want to? You know what I can do to you.” I warned. He backed off.

I’ve never felt so evil. I walked towards Yabu and I ordered the guards to move away from us. I took out the gag off Yabu’s mouth. He was glaring at me. I can’t blame him.

“What do you want from me?” He asked with utmost hatred in his tone. If he wasn’t tied up like that, he might’ve killed me already.

I positioned my mouth on his ear and whispered, “Kiru’s with me. We’ll get you out.”

“Liar.”

“You have no escape here unless I help you out.” I said. “Kiru’s behind the post on your 10:30.”

I knew he was starting to believe me. The mirror signal Kiru used a while ago worked.

I turned to the guards as I pulled Yabu off his seat. “I’m taking him. I have some questions for this old rag.”

“But, Miura-sama, we have direct orders to not move him.” A guard argued.

“Well I’m taking him. If anyone has anything to say, fine with me. It’s your life on the line, not mine.” I warned. The guard backed away from us, cautiously. “That’s better.” I said with a smirk.

“Miura, be careful! More guards are on their way there! I think Myou-“

Oh no. Our line seemed to be cut. I could hear neither Ichihara’s nor Kiru’s voice.
