In the past year, my acne has gone from annoying breakouts on my chin, cheeks, and jawline to practically nonexistent. I NEVER have had nice skin. My skin is prone to dryness, ingrown hairs, stretch marks, and, since like 6th grade, constant facial acne. However, since this past summer when I stopped eating pretty much every form of dairy except cheese, my acne has literally disappeared. I was pretty sure it was because of eating less dairy. On Wednesday, I wrote about how Grace and I made a quiche with her whole milk because I was all out. After eating it, I had borderline diarrhea (sorry TMI) for two days. Then last night, I realized I had a huge zit on my cheek, like a big whitehead wanting to be popped. I realized I hadn't had a serious zit on my face in months. I am CONVINCED it is because of the milk in the quiche.
The only dairy I have not given up is cheese. I would like to switch to using vegan sour cream and cream cheese, because those are so similar to me. But I just don't know if I can give up real cheese. I love cheese and I love cheesy things. I think I will try just reducing the amount of cheese that I eat. Even so, just eliminating other kinds of dairy has made me feel so much better.
And, the best part - NO MORE ACNE! That is something I haven't been able to say since I was probably 11. =)
