Okay, I really need to post
It's been too long since the last post. The last couple days have been sooo nice. Stuff was melting, but then on Sunday it snowed a whole bunch and now the last few days it's all been melting again. Thankfully, Dad took the tractor into the pasture just after it snowed and scraped the snow away from the most traveled areas, so when it all melted it didn't get any muddier than it has to.
I rode with Mandy on the gravel roads on Monday and yesterday I rode alone on the trails. The snowdrifts were deeper than I thought they'd be. When I rode with Mandy, we rode bareback, but we almost got stuck in a huge drift anyway! It was chest high! Then yesterday I rode on the north forty and when he was trotting through deep snow it felt like I was riding a saddleseat Morgan! Since I had the saddle on that time, we had fun buck-jumping though the deeper drifts instead of plowing though them at a walk. It's much easier for the horse I think.
Also yesterday, the farrier came. All the horses stood well except for Jadari. And she actually didn't do too bad. She was such a pill for Eric when we first got her, but he's so good with her, that she's getting better little by little. I was surprised by Mickey. He did really well. I think it was because he was putting all his scheming power at me. He was really mouthy, that is until I stuck the lead rope in his mouth! He licked and chewed about that for awhile!
I think I'll go out and ride again today. It looks like it's going to be nice.
