yes, i'm finally returning to the ranks of you productive members of society.
Today, i woke up late, showered, and groomed myself. I wore trendy but pretty conservative top, and my "please hire me" khakis.
First stop was the villager, where I applied to be a desk clerk.
Then I decided I finally was going to go apply at the mall. I've thus far avoided any applications there, as i knew that The Mall was going to be a big, scary, annoying sort of job hunt place.
But i'm desparate.
So I went in the dillard's doors, applied there....heh.. the woman accepting applications was this gloriously european woman who's accent covered all the contient, vaugely gravitating towards italy. She wished me good luck. I
walked through the mall, picking up an app. for charlotte russe, and applying at steve & barry's (which was a nightmare. 2, count them TWO fillin the bubble surveys of about 80 questions each... apparently steve and barry's thinks everyone is a theiving pothead, unless proven otherwise).
I walk the rest of the mall, but nowhere else is really hiring, or if they are, it's for sucky jobs, like "clean the food court"
So i trudge back the length of the mall, talking to chris about how much i hate the job hunt thing.. head home, tail b/w my legs.
When i'm almost home, i get a call...
"hi, gwyn, this is Carrie (not real name), from Dillard's. i was hoping to schedule an interview with you."
"yes! absoloutely" I reply. "when?"
"how soon can you get here? Oh, and bring your driver's lisence and social security card, just in case"
"yes. absoloutely! sure!"
"Ok, just go to the customer service desk, and ask for carrie."
"yes. absoloutely. thank you."
So i stop home, grab my shit, and hop back in the car.
I approach the customer service desk, my heart pounding. The Gloriously European Woman smiles "yes. I tell her you're very nice girl. No piercings. Pull your sweater shut! she's very conser-careful." she tells me with a wink.
A woman who looks to be in her late forties comes out, leads me to her office, and seats me in a sinking office chair. She asks me a few questions, then starts talking about how they do things....
anyway, long story short, after talking to her for about an hour and a half... i come out with a job offer!
good news! it's a job.
bad news! it's only part time.
good news! that means i get to still spend time with boy.
bad news! no insurance
good news! it pays $9/hr!
bad news! i sell swimsuits.
Good news! it's possible that i'll be moved to dresses before long! that would totally rock! i'd LOVE to sell gowns. I could find all my AGD friends perfect gowns for formal! hehehehehe
omg. so happy. I just feel like a tremendous weight has been lifted! i can't wait to start!!!!
