Poor little Macy. He hasn't been himself lately, all he wants to do is lay on the couch or on my lap. I've had cats declawed and neutered before, and usually by this time they're getting their spunk back but he's just not. So today I was checking his paws and I found out why... he's ripped the stitches out on his right paw and he's got open wounds with exposed bone! OMG, I feel so bad for him! So I called the vet and left a message explaining what happened and that I'll be bringing him in right away tomorrow morning. Then I called my sister just to make sure this wasn't an emergency, even though I figured it wasn't. She checked to make sure he was on antibiotics, which he is, so she had me shred newspaper to use as litter until he can get new stitches, so the clumping litter doesn't get in there and cause problems. She also told me to explain to the vet how he's been ripping at his stitches and ask for some pain meds for him. She said cats will sometimes self-mutilate if they're in pain, and apparently that's what he's been doing. Poor little guy, I feel awful for him. :o(
