Workman's Pains

Dec 16, 2013 22:48

Sooo....
I missed out on a lot of fests and work lately. I'm so sad about this because I see all these fest posts and wish I could have participated. I might just post up some arts for the hell of it later.

But btb, I also missed a lot of work. Maybe a week. But that's also a week with no pay. And I have to buy a new car. How unlucky.

My lovely, lovely car, Lucky, was in a wreck. The car my mom bought and I loved. Very gas efficient and it had some good HP for a four-cylinder.

I haven't seen my car after my accident. It was really just a blur. I just remember that I had rear-ended someone who stopped suddenly in front of me.

From what I hear, the whole front end of my car was crushed and just...gone.

The airbag had deployed into my throat and chest. Now, instead of just build-up, I have inflammation to deal with and a hair-line fracture that should be completely healed in another week or so.

I woke up with nothing feeling wrong, but my car was hazy and full of powder and chemicals. I later learned that the airbags contain some type of chemical powder so that it is able to deploy properly.

I inhaled a lot if it and it set off my asthma. My low iron caused me to bruise and swell like no tomorrow. Lucky for me, the black and blue bruising left in about a week with constant care. It's not swollen anymore, but now my chest looks sunken in. The ER said that it should fix itself when the fracture heals and I eat some fats to put my muscles to rights. :(

When I asked my step, he told me that the officers on site told him that it was a miracle I was living and mostly unharmed. A part of my car failed and completely shut down. They said if it didn't do that, then there probably would have been a fire too. He told my dad that for general safety reasons, there should be an arms length between the steering wheel and the driver. The fact that I wouldn't be able to reach it, my chair was pulled all the way up and my seat was upright. He said that the fact that I was so close to the steering wheel literally saved my neck from snapping.

I'm just really happy and overjoyed that the woman that I ended up hitting in the accident was alright. Her car didn't have a scratch and she was fine, if just a little bit shaken up.

This is my third car accident and the first where I was driving. It was terrifying. But now that I'm on the mend, I figure I should post and get some art out the way.

I already went back to work, but that's neither here nor there. I just hope I can make up the pay time so that I can officially buy a new car. I despise having to rely on others this way. I can't even go to the grocery store without having to call for a ride.

Well.

The only way to move is forward.

Boom shakalaka~
