Exhausting weekend

Attended Tapestry 4 at Singapore Conference Hall last night. It's basically a cultural arts event specially hosted by my school to showcase the talent of the school's aesthetic CCAs during the non-SYF year. The school's Chinese Orchestra & Guzheng Ensemble performed, but I was most captivated by the alumni orchestra's performance. They played a special Chinese orchestra arrangement of "Por Una Cabeza", a performance which marked the peak of the night. They performed "Sand Painting" & "Aspirations" too.

Half of today was yet again spent attending another event. This time, it was my church's 21st anniversary celebration. Had to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to rush down to the Indoor Stadium to queue for my seat, because the event was essentially a morning one, and also, thousands are expected to turn up.

It was pouring in the morning, and the rain dampened my spirits. The swarms of attendees who crowded around the entrances didn't help, either. I called my cell group members and told them I wanted to queue with them but I didn't get any notification from them afterwards. So, I queued alone. I wasn't able to find my cell group even after entering the hall, too. As such, I was pretty much convinced that I was having a bad day. Until I bumped into Shanggei & Cliff somewhere in the hall amidst the sea of people. They saved me from the hassle of having to phone my cell group mates again (I swear, it's such a pain to communicate with some of them sometimes).

The celebrations were enjoyable, and also extravagant, but extravagance is naturally expected of such high-scale events. However, it wasn't as fun as last year's. The solemn atmosphere of this year's celebration revealed, very apparently, that the church hasn't fully got over the crisis it has been facing.

After the celebrations came to an end, I went to Kallang Leisure Park to have lunch with some of my cell group mates. Had a great time of fellowship, and because of that, my spirits gradually lightened. The session made me feel that I've got to know those members whom I don't usually talk to in church or cell group meetings better. And that's great - at least I won't feel trapped in my usual circle every time.

... I guess that's all. Anyway, I'm glad the weekend's finally coming to a close. It has been an exhausting one.

But I'm going back to school tomorrow. :/
