I'm really glad I wrote this post because I feel like it gave me the motivation I needed to refuse to take no for an answer from the airlines. Long story short: I found a flight at 9:30 am and, while I got no sleep, I *did* get to Chicago.

After an hour and a half on hold, it's starting to really dawn on me that I'm going to miss Daryk's wedding. My flight was scheduled for 12:40 pm and the FAA is closing the airport at noon. Well, I *am* mobile, but I'm super slow. It seems like I can get about for very short distances (around the hotel, say) with one crutch (and around the room with no crutches), but for being out and about, it looks like I still need two. In Prague less than an hour and already I've shorted out the power to our entire floor of the hotel. Memo to myself: US power strips and European power adapters don't mix.

ATTENTION EVERYONE:

From January 29 - February 6, DO NOT CALL MY CELL PHONE. I will get charged for international roaming even if I don't answer the phone, and there's no way to shut that off without shutting everything off. Text messaging is fine, tho.

aaronbenedict got a promotion (also awesome news!) and, long story short, part of his new job is to attend a conference in Prague later this month.

As an added bonus, I'll get to spend an evening in The Netherlands with bishopjoey and last_girl_guide.

I'm super excited.

I've been in DC all week. It's been good. Some sad news -- Lambda Rising Bookstore has closed, which feels much like finding out an old friend has died -- but otherwise the overwhelming feeling is relief. aaronbenedict is getting sick and I'm on the tail end of getting over getting sick, but it still feels like such a relief to be here.
