Much has happened lately, but little has been written. Let's see if I can remedy that just a bit:
First off, my Dad is home from the hospital and doing reasonably well. He's got a nurse staying with him while my Mom is at work, but no clue how long that will last for.
Friday night was John Waters Night at
lilostitch's house.
unixd0rk and I were in attendance. Miss Prissy Pants was supposed to put in an appearance, but somehow, that never happened.
I need to talk to Miss Prissy Pants anyway, because yesterday I very randomly discovered that an old friend of ours is apparently a movie star now. See,
unixd0rk and I were watching
Road Trip on TV (I know, I know, but bear with me), and who should I see but
Felicia Caplan, with a speaking role and everything. It kind of blew my mind in a buncha different ways (not the least of which was that apparently her stage name is "Phe Caplan." Now, we all called her "Phe" -- pronounced "Fee" -- back in the day, but come on).
Anyway, there are other random things to update about, including
ratphooey's mother very unexpectedly showing up when I was
at work (and while she was on the phone with
ratphooey, no less) ... um, let's see, talking to Daryk last night for the first time in who knows how long (it was his birthday -- September 11th, a hard date to forget, no?) ... going to
Kennywood with a bunch of my cousins on Labor Day (including
sillyliloboi's brother, who I hadn't seen since all of the terrible traumatic stuff happened) ...
Oh! Oh! And two weekends ago,
unixd0rk and I went bowling with a bunch of people he works with. I share this, because I feel the need to share that I actually did that Laverne & Shirley thing where I swung my arm back getting ready to bowl and instead the ball went flying off my hand backwards toward the crowd. I didn't hit anybody, but I did scare a few folks, and it really was funny as hell.
And according to
immoralusername,
this guy will donate a dollar to The American Red Cross if you leave a comment on
this post. I commented. I have no clue if it's a scam or not, but, you know, there it is.
Actually,
The Co-op has offered to allow employees to go to Louisiana and do Red Cross work for three weeks ... and pay us our average weekly pay for the weeks that we're gone. I didn't think it was possible to go until yesterday, and, well, now it's kind of tempting me. Do I actually have those kind of balls?
OK, so I'm sure there are about a million things I'm forgetting, but that'll have to do for now. If you're bored, you can always check out this:
