Winding down from the concert

Sep 07, 2007 01:16

I just got back from seeing Rilo Kiley at the Warfield. I am full of squee! and exhaustion. The two opening bands were pretty good. The first one, I believe they were called Grand Old Party, sounded like Grace Slick with a blues band. Someone nearby me compared them to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs... and I can see that too. The second opening band gets props for having a song where the coyote king eats the heart of the governor of California.

:D

I have no complaints about the set list, which is novel for me. They played both Dreamworld and Portions for Foxes, which were the two songs I really wanted to hear. I mean, I could complain about not playing Love and War but they did play Ripchord. Everyone was singing along the entire concert, but not enough people were dancing.

Anyway.

I realize I never made a post about Dragon Con... but I feel like long con posts are kinda blah, no one cares that much unless there's pictures. And I haven't resized my photos. So I'll be brief.

I met the artists of The Devil's Panties, Misfile, Sluggy Freelance, Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki, and they were all friendly and cool. I got assorted swag, including a shotglass and a plush Kiki (ferret). The WoW tv panel was hilarious, and it was a lot of fun to watch WoW fan videos for an hour. I played fun card games like Chez Geek, and generally had a good time. Still, Atlanta smells bad.

Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment to see about the tendonitis. I can't go to my physical therapy because I have to go back to Santa Cruz. Blah. I also have to see a different doctor on Monday about whether or not my gums bleeding is a sign of some underlying medical issue. And then I see my dentist again on Wednesday. Which means I can't go to Santa Cruz til Wednesday evening at least. Boo.

Sleeptimenow.

dragon con, rilo kiley
