So I've been in Montreal for two weeks now. I had my last hurrah of the summer last night (though there are some orientation activities planned for the next couple of weeks that I may partake in) with an unexpected company. Kristin and her friend Dan were fun to hang out with. From crêpes to arcade games, Icelandic films to alcoholic beverages, and catching the last train home on the metro, last night was good.
The apartment is working out nicely; I actually have enough room for my stuff and breathing room to spare. I have found my way to many corners of the city for various reasons. I have seen three movies at the World Film Festival that has been going on all week. I have done my share of walking, spent a night doing laundry, carried a week's worth of groceries all the way back to my apartment, hiked through the wilderness (indeed, there is some) of Montreal and gotten a good look at the city. Let me interrupt this flow of thought with a picture I took on my cell phone.
And another...
One more...
A few drinks lets out my inner artist. That is Vermont, NH, and Mass., for any non-New Englanders. Anyway, classes start in two days. I've been thinking about plans for the future. I decided not to overload my schedule right away, but I do intend to graduate one term early. I am thinking about the philosophy department's exchange program with the University of Munster in Germany. I will probably take courses this summer at Concordia and go to Germany either next fall or winter if I can. That will leave next summer open. Then fall 2009 I will graduate. After that, I'm not entirely sure. I'm thinking about LA, Oxford, and Paris right now, but it's too early to think too hard about that. I guess I will see where things take me.
Hopefully more friends will visit me soon. Coming alone to Montreal was one of the best decisions I've ever made, I think. Maybe my opinion will change in time. Only time can come.
