New years Resolutions - 2011

Jan 01, 2012 13:00

Because I found that this actually worked quite well for me, complete or fail.

New years Resolutions
(Both silly and serious)
strikethrough means done. XD
Red means failed.  D:

-Go to gym regularly and lose the cm's put on in the previous year.
Didn't happen.  At all.

-Go to dentist for check up.
Done.  Was this the year that my root canal happened or was that the year before?  I think it was 2011, it just seems so long ago now.  In any case, definitely done.

-Get car serviced.
Done again.  Ongoing definite done.

-New shoes for work! (Two to three if possible.)
New shoes are a go!  While they weren't bought specifically for work, they do get used to cover that aspect of my life as well.

-Get through current books piled up in massive 'to read' stacks next to my bed.
All bar one, and that one was intentional so I'm marking this off as 'done'.
Originally I thought that last book to be part of a trilogy, with its last book coming out in February of this year.  I was putting it off until I had all three to zip through since I know I like the authors style.  Sadly as I was checking my details for this post I discovered there's a book 4 due out in 2013 (!).  Hrmmmm.

-Read/watch everything that is on 'borrowed' status and return them.
The only one that hasn't yet been returned is Katie's Veronica Mars, which WILL go back as soon as she's back in the state and we have time to catch up.  Everything else is gone!  Gone!!  -happy face-

-Go to Japan.  Have crud-loads of fun.  Come back without killing bank account.
The apocalypse is apparently starting in Japan this year.  Tickets booked for next April instead.

-Get furniture for lounge room.
It just didn't happen.  Le sads.  However, it is going to have to happen sometime soon as my brother has finally decided that he wants his bookcases back.  (I haven't been rude.  I have reminded him that I have them and that he's welcome to have them back whenever  He's just been very ho-hum about it before now.)  And if I'm getting bookcases I'm going to get a coffee table at the same time.

-Get new curtains for bedroom.
Fail.  Complete fail.  Looked at material for this in... 2010 I think?  Then didn't even touch the idea again.  Pft.

-Start cosplay for AI con.  Complete cosplay for AI con.
Done.  Robin from One Piece in her Water 7 outfit.  I really quite liked this one and the end outfit was really well put together even if it didn't look as flashy and stand out as others.  -_-;;  One year, I'm going to pick a really spectacular outfit.

-Afford to buy another piece from Innocent World.
Or two... or three.  One was on sale (Antique Book), one I got off the sales com (plain black velvet trim jsk)... and one I just bought as a birthday present to myself, damn the consequences (Felicia Crown).  I love them all.

-Buy from wishlists and get them down to much smaller lists.
        DVDs.
        Books.
        Clothes.
        Shoes.
        Manga.
        Anime.
While the DVDs/Anime didn't really get whittled down, everything else did, so I'm marking this off as a win.  I think until I manage to get myself a new television (one with a remote would be nice) DVDs are going to end up hitting more and more of the wishlist rather then bought arena.

-Sort the packratting from the actual useful/want/need things.  Send to Vinnies.  Auction off.  Give away.
Started this off wrong.  Missed the auction at AIcon and that sort've just... halted my clean up?  It felt a bit like a metaphorical fence if you will.  Ah well, let's try this year.

-Pick some shows to see at the theatre and budget them in.  Three plus this year thanks.
1) One Man Lord of the Rings
2) The Gondoliers
3) Return to the Forbidden Planet

Done.  Missed seeing the Bell Shakespeare production for 2011 due to a mistaken belief that no one else would be interested in seeing one of his more serious plays with me.  Oops!

-Buy/get a hair straightener.
Straight out due to snoos_the_moose gifting me with her older straightener.  It is absolute magic and I'm still so very grateful.

10/15 - Not too bad really.  Go me!

real life, new years
