THANK YOU for clarifying which cemetery was used in THE GODFATHER!! I've been trying to figure this out for ages. (I'm sure I could have found this through a simple internet search, but when I lived in NY, my approach was just to ask taxi drivers who had lived in the city for a long time. None of them knew!)
I love this poll! But I had to limit it to high school. I included nothing from university, where my English classes were electives, so I enjoyed most of the books; nothing from middle school, where the teachers tended to choose high-interest books (LES MISERABLES, FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON, FAHRENHEIT 451, ANIMAL FARM, etc.), so I loved all of them; and nothing from extracurricular clubs such as Academic Decathlon, 'cause it was my choice to join, so I brought the bad books on myself. (If I included AD, then A TALE OF TWO CITIES and ARROWSMITH would definitely be on the "so bad I couldn't finish" list.)
Darn it, I forgot about DEATH OF A SALESMAN and LORD OF THE FLIES! They're on my "favorites" list, too. And I'm probably repressing some of the "least favorites".... Now I'm going to be thinking about this all day.... ^^
i never read les miserables, actually. i also loved animal farm and fahrenheit 451, although ray bradbury made me angry by claiming that the latter is not actually about censorship, but about tv making us stupid. um, ok, asshole.
