i ended up adding a shelf thing to my room.

some close-up pics of the shelves. the arrangements have changed since i took these pictures, but i'm too lazy to retake them. i basically wanted to clear off my vanity a bit, it had way too much stuff on it and around it. the shelf makes my room feel a little smaller but i'm willing to sacrifice that, i guess.

i made some more plushies for ernestinewalker, dyskodyke and girliebacchanal . . . i'll be starting on some for rag-and-bone soon, and blueberryfrost. haven't sewn all week though, too sick and out of it. poor pills - i keep breaking plans with her cuz i suck. i will not be in nyc next week either, which also sucks

insane-looking cat, made from a pattern in stuffed magazine. sent this to kdotdammit's kid bean! i hear she loves it.

haha, he looks like one of those cat clocks.

i should probably have made him in a slightly larger size. he was actually supposed to have beads and sequins sewn all over him, but i just did not have the patience.

mostly posting this for technicolorpuff, because i thought she'd appreciate the cat dress.

COW

MUSHROOM

last of the alice in wonderland jun planning minis - dormouse! she has green hair, which i really like.

the humpty dumpty mini dal - hankshiny is very disturbed by this one. not as disturbed as he is by marsupials, though.

carousel lucy petite blythe, she has a hime haircut!

swan petite blythe, she has really lovely lavender eyes. i'm glad i have a blonde petite blythe.

agh, i got the JANE MARPLE petite blythe! there's no way i'll ever fit into jane marple, which is a pity as it's one of my favorite brands. i get the consolation prize, i guess.

she sort of matches the btssb petite blythe because of the hairstyle.

i like the big one too but she's way too expensive. that said, i really want heather sky, she has such a lovely tanned complexion. argh, but too expensive for right now and i bet her price will just keep going up.

i did one of those "ask me a question/tell me what to take a pic of" memes AGES ago. i guess i should do it now, or it will never happen. here are some of the answers and pictures. i'll do the rest later. one of them may never happen because i keep forgetting (picture of me in my favorite outfit - it's been too cold to wear my favorite outfit, so i'm running out of excuses).

1. describe your personality.

hmm. this is hard because i feel like my personality has changed a lot in the last 10 years. i used to be mega-shy and quiet and i don't think that's actually true anymore, although i still feel shy inside. also i have had some weird experiences, like when i was studying abroad in kenya and everyone there thought i was totally hilarious (like professional comedian hilarious), which was nice BUT ALSO NOT TRUE. maybe they had really low standards. i do think i am generally funny. let's see . . . i veer between totally manic levels of activity and torpor/depression. yes, it's probably at clinical levels but i have never done anything about it. my mind is always going but it is not thinking about important or intelligent things. i have weird obsessions and sometimes i embarrass myself in front of other people by revealing how important those obsessions actually are to me. i am lazy both physically and intellectually. i am flippant about almost everything, which is ultimately detrimental. i don't know how the hell to describe my personality. maybe you should do it instead.

2. what is your neighborhood like?

it's a nice place in queens. it's probably lower-middle-class, and white people are a minority. it is also quite safe, but people like my parents will never believe simply because it looks run-down and there are lots of hispanics. i like it because there are no people like me around. i can't explain this well . . . i don't like other young people, generally. i find them annoying and i cannot tolerate their bodily fluids or sounds. i'd rather live around middle-aged people with children and old people. yes, i am indeed old before my time and probably a party pooper. also i annoy myself constantly and at least here there isn't a whole regiment of people my age annoying everyone.

anyway, there is tons of delicious food (tacos, best thai food in the city, almost every other ethnic cuisine you can think of) and flushing isn't too far away. there are also lots of drunk irish people, who are amusing to watch on the weekend. we might move to manhattan at some point just for the convenience (i go into manhattan a lot to see tiffany and lexie and to do other things, and hankshiny works there), but we'd miss this place.

3. how tall are you?

i SAY i'm five foot three, but you should probably take off a 1/2 inch.

4. best secret santa gift or gift from someone you didn't know well.

you know, i honestly can't think of anything. when i swam in college the team had a secret gift exchange thing going on, and i was pretty happy whenever someone gave me twizzlers and/or gatorade. but i'm sure someone somewhere gave me something better, i just can't remember it.

now, pictures. not all of them, because there are a few i don't want to post in an unlocked entry.

my makeup:

my makeup collection has actually grown exponentially lately, so this picture is no longer accurate. but again, i am lazy. note the mustaches on the left side of the drawer. i have several new ones and maybe when i am drunk i will take more photobooth pictures of me wearing them.

(speaking of drunk, i am supposedly doing karaoke again in two weeks and tiffany has promised to help me put on some false eyelashes i bought when i was drunk [yes, it is a pattern]. maybe i will bring my camera this time. i can't wait to see tiffany and my boyfriend rap again. i have learned my lesson and will not try to sing tool songs this time.)

favorite accessory:

at first i couldn't decide, but then i remembered that every time i wear this i get compliments from strangers of every description. lesson: everyone appreciates tacky bling, no matter what.

if you like pretty images, including film stills, fashion photography and children's book art (especially by kay nielsen), i made a post in babydeeer - here it is! i also made a huge post on shopaholic_lj but sadly it hasn't been passed through moderation yet.

george will wrote a hilarious column about blue jeans and their horrible impact on society. oh george will, you are SO OLD AND STUFFY that you make me feel young again. for that i am grateful!

(seriously, BLUE JEANS? he's not even that old, hankshiny and i looked him up on wikipedia last night because we thought he had to be at least 80 to complain about jeans of all things. i mean, why is he bitching about this NOW? he had at least 40 years, probably more, in which to write this column, and possibly he wouldn't come off as such an ass.)

the two funniest parts:

"For men, sartorial good taste can be reduced to one rule: If Fred Astaire would not have worn it, don't wear it. For women, substitute Grace Kelly."

yes, because george will is so fucking dapper. i look at his ensembles and think, "gee, you look EXACTLY as fleet-footed and graceful as fred astaire in that vacuum commercial." goofy bow ties are such a fred astaire sartorial staple.

maybe he's been watching mad men?

"Seventy-five percent of American "gamers" -- people who play video games -- are older than 18 and nevertheless are allowed to vote."

i think it is simply amazing that he feels he has to explain what a gamer is.

look, i get it. i wish people wore more interesting clothes and that you couldn't identify american tourists by their blindingly white sneakers and pleated jean shorts. but . . . this has been brought up time and time again. i can't believe this man was born in 1941. he's had MOST OF HIS LIFE to write about this, and he chooses now. also i would rather he had written about the velour tracksuit or the return of the romper or ANYTHING.

on a happier note, check out this blog. oh, that everyone in the world dressed like chuck.

my personal favorite chuck bass outfit. the rhinestone tuxedo is a close runner-up.

tonight i am seeing throbbing gristle. it has been way too long since i went to a concert. I FEEL OLD. my current favorite album is the new bat for lashes, in which natasha khan goes totally kate bush on our asses. i need more new music but i keep downloading shit and being disappointed.

also, i have started watching american idol. it is tiffany's fault. it makes me want to die but i can't stop watching it.
