the giant entry i promised

Feb 20, 2009 10:44

i did promise a post about xmas and such, didn't i?

well, ok, not all of these were xmas presents, but some of them were and i was COMPELLED to take a photo of all my q-pot together. omg, it makes me hungry. you know, i've never actually eaten a macaroon. lexie, we must remedy this.

haha, happy xmas cards! i'm sure you guys will recognize the ones you sent.

lexie got me a mani/pedi for xmas, sorry you have to see my feet, i just really loved the color so i took a pic.

these are the shower gels my mom sent me, i haven't used them yet since i still have the margarita one (which i won in one of those present contest things at my aunt's house - NOTE: my mother somehow thought it was appropriate to stick it in the contest even though IT'S NOT ACTUALLY ALCOHOL and everything else was like a bottle of tequila. geez mom.).

mmymoon sent me these, they really scare the boy. granted, they are even more goggle-eyed and vacant than usual, and the animal suits don't help.

chibimonkichi was kind enough to send me this doll dress, it's quite fabulous!

this made me laugh with glee!! biggieshorty's present, aaaaamaaaazzzzzzzing beyond words. if you press the "try me" button, it says "EXTERMINATE!" in a dalek voice. NO ONE ELSE HAS A DALEK MAKEUP BAG GUYS

and what's inside? why, dalek bubble bath and a dalek sponge, of course! why must you ask?

i did end up giving the bubblebath and sponge to kimmie because i never take baths. i miss them though!

as mentioned previously, xmas was not present heavy, which is just as well. i don't need more stuff.

hankshiny got me this vintage coat from etsy. i am a little disturbed by the apparently real fur. sadly it just barely fits on my boobs, but i can wear it when i lose weight.

all these are from the boy:

the flapper ring is adorable!

i've wanted this bird's nest necklace for awhile but never got around to buying it.

these were actually my 8-year-anniversary present (yes, we have been dating since we were 18, yes, we are FUCKING OLD, shut it), but they arrived around xmas time. soooo cute, now if only i could wear them more often. i need to see a podiatrist. these are actually very comfortable for heels, but i still have plantar fasciitis in my left foot. :(

last minute present - too faced music box! i also got this for my sister.

i just love palettes. there's something about all the colors that makes me really happy. and this one plays music.

the little dancing girl!

some pretty things i will not be buying but enjoy admiring:

comme des garcon for h&m. oh man. the problem with h&m's designer capsule collections is that they are hard to get except resold on ebay for 10 times the worth. i mean, quality is still h&m level. target has the same problem but at least those clothes are made in bigger quantities and you can order them online.

am i the only one who isn't blown away by the alexander mcqueen/target collab? it's ok, but i wanted more out of it.

beth star doll dresses, damn my chest for being too large! i like these because they would work really well in "normal" type outfits as well as lolita. they're way cuter than the angelic pretty ones with the same fabric.

i fell in love with this necklace, but unfortunately it is $300 and will never happen. soooo pretty though.

i wish someone made a knock-off of this q-pot bracelet, but i cannot find anything similar anywhere. it's tragic!!

some of the things i made for chibimonkichi. some of them make me wince (the ipod case, the cake) and some of them are pretty good (the bunny, the tree). all of these are from the softies kit, which i highly recommend if you want to make things and don't have a sewing machine. i've pretty much sewn my way through the whole kit at this point.

this is the first one i made. it's really crappy, but in my defense, it's harder to sew than it looks (especially the whipped cream, which i'm pretty sure i didn't make correctly).

if i did it again i'd probably do a better job, but honestly every single thing i've made has at least one mistake in it. sigh.

ipod case! this one taught me how to correctly do a blanket stitch, which i swear i knew how to do before but had totally forgotten. as you can see from the pic, it was a learning process, haha.

this was the first thing i made that i really liked. i might make another for myself.

little fake doll dress, i guess you can use these as placeholders or party favors, but obviously my first thought is "PULLIPS!"

super easy to make! i'm surprised this isn't the default project with the kit (they provide materials for the aforementioned cake, even though it's harder than a lot of the other ones, since it's three dimensional).

his hat comes off!

agggh, i totally love the goofy tree. might make another one for hankshiny, as he's a fan of googly eyes.

the dog was for kungfookimmie's birthday. i also bought her the science re-ment kits, because every biologist needs a miniature set of test tubes and bunsen burner.

there's another chick in the kit, oddly, also with a removable hat. this one is for my friend kim (the girl i was visiting in korea, she's back now).

TOTALLY RANDOM! i found this ancient valentine hankshiny made for me in college. omg, it's a CHEEZIT BOX! i kind of miss those days, actually. i still have all the letters and cards he ever sent me. i'm secretly sentimental, guys.

BEST DRAWING EVER. this is supposed to be us at halloween (sophomore year? i think?). he sent me this when i was in kenya. I WANT TO FRAME IT.

i actually made several others, but they are presents for lj people and i can't post them here yet! working on something for pills and biggieshorty right now.

i need some new craft books or kits. can you guys recommend any? i'm mostly interested in ones about stuffed animals or other things you can hand sew, also in embroidery, ribbonwork and felting little animals. i'm not really that interested in knitting or crochet right now, or anything that would involve a sewing machine (i plan to get one later this year, but not yet). but any recommendations are welcome, as long as you remember i'm at a beginner's level and i need books that explain things really well.

ALSO, i need more practice, so if any of you want one of these you should let me know. i won't sell them as they aren't my patterns but would be happy to swap if you also make things or just send them to you cuz i'm nice that way.

i tried to rewig adsiltia, and the new wig just made her look like alte. i was so sad! the wig is pretty enough, i might stick it on prunella.

i think i thought the blonde streaks were more apparent than they actually are. although she does look like a vampire now, which might signal success to some people.

so i rewigged AGAIN, and i think this attempt was successful. now she's a gothic redhead in an outfit vaguely reminiscent of those juicy couture ads with the giant bow. or maybe blair waldorf (AND YES I DID NAME HER BLAIR, THANK YOU).

i think her eyebrows match up pretty well. thanks cauldroness for suggesting an orange wig!

i need to make her a series of giant hairbows.

i finally got me another full size blythe! PAM seems forever out of reach, but cousin olivia is pretty cute and has a smiley face instead of looking dour.

i took her to pills apartment and lexie totally spazzed over her. lexie, you know you will give in eventually. GIVE IN TO THE MADNESS!

some new minis i have acquired:

cheshire cat mini pullip! mmymoon, i think you need this one. her hair is the same color as ursula's!

red queen, with her mean little face! there should be more mean looking pullips.

card rabbit mini pullip, i love her creepy look.

i especially like the pink makeup around her eyes, it's a nice reference to pink-eyed bunnies.

mini white rabbit dal - outfit very much like the white rabbit from the golden alice set. just tiny! i really love the new minis from jp. they're so much cuter than the old ones.

mini card dal.

pink alice dal, who might be my favorite. she's just so lovely!

see what i mean? this is an old mini, and she's nice, but not nearly as pretty as the new ones. they did something to the face mold.

petite blythe nightflower, very cute.

she looks so much better without that coat, though. and her shoes don't stay on her feet, which is irritating, even though they are adorably tiny black high heels.

so i switched my hestias out of their stock outfits, which they've worn forever, and into the azone ballet outfits. ursula is sitting on my precious - anna sui color collection d! gah i love anna sui lately.

jane marple petite blythe - i need! along with q-pot petite blythe. i like the big q-pot blythe, but not enough to shell out $450.

new j-doll, she's lovely but i don't think i'll get her. the j-doll releases have been pretty interesting lately.

i don't understand how this is a mini policewoman at all.

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD. i might get this one just because she's hilarious . . .

and of course, the new releases everyone is excited about! i will probably get the korean pullip (is she supposed to be a ghost?) and the dal. i like the dal's faceup a lot.

oh, angelic pretty. totally getting the dal, probably getting and rewigging the pullip (i mean, she's just MEANT to be a super creepy sister to adsiltia, come on). byul is still horrifying.

and now, to end the post: here are the dancing dogs i was going to write about after i went to cirque du soleil with tiffany. but time moves on, and that post shall never be. i still wanted to share the utter ridiculousness with you, though. alas, the brian wilson post will also never come to pass. new year, new posts, and i hope to be recapping top model very soon now. LOOK FORWARD

does anyone want a postcard? i have a bunch of tintin ones i want to get rid of . . . if you like you can state your preferred tintin book, though i cannot guarantee i have that one.

crafts, stuff, fashion, pullips, dolls
