Being Helpful

Jul 29, 2008 13:44

"Here's how you can be helpful" is the new buzz-phrase from my boss. He's said it many times since around January, leaving us long-winded voicemails as he drives back from late night meetings (a.k.a. taking clients out to drink).

Then of course, there was yesterday where I told my mom "if only I had a social life this would be a chick-lit moment" when my boss had me calling thirteen people about checks only to at the very end say "nevermind". He's just lucky I didn't buy the rocks that had smile or tranquility on it...because I would have flipped one at his head.

It's just a wonder we get anything done? When he's sending at least twenty-five e-mails to us a day!!! Not to mention voicemails. And the next month is going to just be nasty:
1) Charity Golf outing on the 12th (between now and then, he's in the office MAYBE a day in total, rumor has it the 11th we'll be in the office till 7pm)
2) Governor's fundraiser on the 19th (a huge gala where I'll no doubt have to volunteer)
3) Various Lucas Oil Stadium (LOS to those of us in the know, Lucas Stadium to a geek like me) events that we're having to make sure he gets to where he needs to be.

I have a plan though, today's my Dad's 59th birthday, and we're going to eat at Longhorn ("I'll have the chicken, which I'm sure is either really dry or just really nasty"). Then I'm going home, putting a movie on in my bedroom and falling asleep. Thanks!

life, work
