But we've already had our snow day for the winter!
Yeah, well, apparently not. Most of my coworkers at the Death Star today had one eye on the windows, keeping a worried watch on the frozen precipitation drifting down from the heavens. It turned pretty damn heavy a couple of times (a quote from a coworker: "It looks like snowballs are coming down!"), and that's coming from a Chicagoan who's lived in Montreal and Stockholm.
Not being a complete idiot, I begged off early and took stuff to finish at home -- dropped off Stretch and stopped at Tom Thumb for some winter essentials, then wrapped up the work day and took a rather pleasant nap with the cats. The rest of the evening has been spent writing, doing laundry, and checking on the state of the weather every so often -- right now I'd estimate we've caught somewhere between 4-5 inches in Plano (the fir trees that flank our walkway were badly bent over with their loads of snow), and the weather station on the corner is reporting a temp of 30.6 °F with more snow coming down.
I'm supposed to go into the office tomorrow to prep docs for Sunday. Getting out of the garage is going to be mighty interesting. Oh, well -- I brought them all home anyway, so if worse comes to worse I can play email tag with my manager and get it all done that way.
