NYC to Tony's Totally Still A Secret Lab of Secrets, Tuesday Night

Aug 28, 2012 18:32

After writing enough code to make your average person go blind the previous day, Tony was putting it to test. In flight. It was a damn good thing he was both a genius and had redundancies in place should something go horribly wrong. Because something would. His life was a special one ( Read more... )

Once the armor was off and his new shiny piece of enemy tech was tossed onto a nearby workbench, Tony was stretching to work out the kinks that came from smacking into a helicopter.

"Okay, let's get started," he said to himself. Because he was a genius. It was allowed to be a little strange like that.

The fact that Iron Man led him back to that goddamn school was actually less surprising than the Ghost really wanted to think about. How did he not put this together before now?

"You know, I actually feel a little dumb right now," he said, suddenly returning to visibility as he put his camera away. He had all the proof he needed as to Iron Man's identity.

Tony inhaled sharply, hands going still over the device beneath his hands. A little like a startled rabbit. Maybe if he didn't move, he wouldn't be seen...

"Do you?"

"Just a little bit," he replied keeping an eye on the kid. "But right now--I'm mostly just feeling rich.

Shit. Shit shit shit.

He'd gotten complacent with being in Fandom, no doubt. Who would come here?

Tony placed his hands on the table, making himself breath normally as he tried to think of how to get out of this without things getting worse. "Yeah. I'm sure people will believe you that a teenager is running around, fighting crime."

He was moving before he finished the sentence, hitting the keypad of his main display in order to lock the suits down so that they couldn't be stolen.

Yeah, that wasn't going to stop him, Tony.

Ghost chuckled, pulling a gun to keep the kid just where he was now. "No one cares that you're a kid, Stark. You've made yourself some serious enemies now." He moved toward the console, pulling something vaguely gun shaped from behind his back to latch onto it.

Somewhere, Steve Rogers was despairing at Tony's self preservation instinct as he didn't back away from the gun. Instead, he lifted his chin defiantly and looked Ghost in the... mask.

"And you?"

"Me?" He shrugged, pulling the gun device away from the console once it beeped. "I'm in it for the paycheck. And what all this information is going to get me will be more than enough to retire on."

He pushed the very real gun against Tony's head with a little more force. "Maybe I'll name a yacht after you, Stark."

Oh no. No, no, no. There was no way he could let him just walk away with what he knew.

Tony shoved up on the man's wrist with one hand, grabbing at the gun with the other to force it out of his grasp. Because those self defense lessons with Mr. Rogers weren't actually going to waste, thanks.

That got a laugh as the gun went flying to land a safe distance away. Then, he flickered out of sight.

"Don't think you can win this, kid," he said, reappearing behind Tony and giving him a hard hit to the back of the head. Once the kid hit the floor, he disappeared again.

"Just face the facts..."

Tony winced, twisting to try and find where the voice was coming from now. "I won't let you get away with this!"

Yeah, like he had a choice in the matter.

"...you've already lost."

And with that, he was gone. Too bad, so sad, Stark!

"Shit," Tony dragged himself up, hitting the console to see what he'd done. All his files were still there, but the intrusion into his systems... they'd been copied. He had all the armor schematics.

"Shit."
