After writing enough code to make your average person go blind the previous day, Tony was putting it to test. In flight. It was a damn good thing he was both a genius and had redundancies in place should something go horribly wrong. Because something would. His life was a special one.
So, pay no attention to Iron Man doing lazy circles over the New York skyline, folks!
NYPD
Unless you were in a nearby police chopped, that is.
"Should I go after him?" the pilot asked, watching the red blur now off in the distance.
His co-pilot shot him a look for even suggesting it. "For what? Speeding?"
The Ghost
Yeah, dumb idea, guys.
At least, that's what the hidden figure on a nearby building would have told them if he'd actually cared enough. Or wasn't running across the rooftop to leap out at the helicopter. He caught the landing skids, pulling himself up and under out of sight.
And even more out of sight once his camouflage tech kicked into place.
NYPD
Something caused the helicopter to jerk suddenly, making the pilot struggle to keep it steady. "Whoa, that felt like something hit the chopper. See anything?"
His co-pilot leaned over toward the side, looking down for whatever could have done that.
"No, we're clean."
C'mon, guys. Really?
The Ghost
Yeah, they were just asking for trouble with that kind of investigating.
Ghost smirked to himself, carefully attaching something to the bottom of the chopper. "A little bait for the trap," he said quietly, letting himself fall as soon as it was safely attached.
No need to get caught in the burst.
NYPD
What burst?
It wasn't so much an explosion as a sudden lack of anything and everything electronic on the helicopter. Which, well, wasn't really the best thing on a moving helicopter.
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY. DISPATCH, WE'RE GOING DOWN."
The chopper spun dangerously, heading for the ground like a stone.
Iron Man
They were just sooooo lucky that Tony hadn't left once his tests were finished.
He darted in, under the still sluggishly spinning blades to catch it from the bottom. Way less chance of a messy accident and more stability there.
"Whoa now," he muttered to himself as the suit zeroed in foreign tech attached the it. Once the chopper was safely on the ground, he was grabbing that to investigate more carefully.
"Guys okay?"
NYPD
The two pilots shot each other a look, still clinging to their seats despite no longer being in danger of crashing in a fiery ball of death.
"...y-yeah," one finally answered.
Iron Man
"Try to keep it in the air next time," Tony replied, taking off again. He had tech to investigate and a business to check out tomorrow morning.
NYPD
"...and you wanted to give him a speeding ticket."
"Shut up."
The Ghost
Which meant that of course Iron Man wasn't keeping an eye or any sensors out for his invisible little stalker.
"Amateur."
