I haven't posted in pretty much forever. Between two vacations, shit tons of work to do and general apathy towards accessing my computer outside of work I have not posted a thing in over three weeks. In the interim? I've explored the heart of Texas through the bleary eyes of a girl-gone-simple life at the Bandera 11th Street Cowboy Bar, Blue Gene's, the Cabaret, and the Saloon; basked in sun, water, and not an inconsequential amount of vomit in the waters of the Panhandle and returned tan and somehow thinner despite countless plates of enchiladas, migas, brisket, Sonic burgers, Whataburger egg, cheese & sausage biscuits, hash browns, chicken fried steak, Dairy Queen and junior banana splits. (How do you like that run-on sentence?) I'm sure you've all seen
thrownoverbored's photos by now. Plastic clam shells from Big Lots were some of the hottest shit going at Bowlegs. Did I mention the night of 2 glasses champagne, 3 Miller Lights, 5 vodka-red bulls, a shot o' Jager and a jello shot?
Now residing in the state of New York for more than a week again, I am itching to go back on vacation. I just read an article on Alice Munro's Vancouver; she's one of my favorite authors and I would love to see what it's like up there. I've seen Victoria and some of the US Pacific Northwest (my uncle lives in Portland and my mom's friend in Seattle, so I have seen those areas) before. I've always been intrigued by Victoria though. Given my recent shopping habit, any more trips are going to have to wait excepting the already-scheduled jaunt over to Madrid and Barcelona in December with my mom and sister.
Speaking of whom, my sister began her summer internship at my company yesterday. After work this evening, we're going shopping because I owe her a birthday present. For her 21st I'm buying her a Herve Chapelier bag. It's time that she had a grown-up bag anyway. Hope the summer brings more frequent posts...
Other quick notes (mostly for my own reference):
- Last night I went to dinner at Casa Mono to celebrate Laya's 25th birthday. I've never had fried sardines before, but they were delicious. I may want to think twice before downing a bottle of rioja on a Monday again though...
- My new Louis Vuitton bag is everything and more than I'd hoped it would be. Waiting on a six-month list was worth it.
- Riding a mechanical bull is diverting--- for 30 seconds.
- Cowboy hats and beer koozies are AWESOME.
- Fake boobs are almost a good idea if you live in Florida.
- Sugar daddies most certainly are a good idea anytime.
- Vodka-red bull is never a good idea, no matter how tired you are on Saturday night.
- New York's social scene is ridiculously small.
- Even though you only live once, it's still not a good idea to ever date your co-workers.
- I am going on a boat trip with three middle aged men on Thursday night - Friday.
- No, I will not be wearing a bathing suit.
- But I am taking my beer koozie.
