Wow, I'm totally in love with my friends

So, here I was sitting at my computer, bored outta my mind on Friday night with nothing to do.  Rob gives me a call screaming it’s an emergency to my mom.  He says his dog Diesel's bleeding all over the place and he needs me to watch over his sick cat while he runs to take his dog to the vet.  Mind you, I had gone riding earlier in the day, it was well over 100 degrees and I was hot, cranky and more than a little smelly.  I had just taken a shower and was just trying to stay cool in my boxers while I avoided socializing with the rents.  So the phone rings, its Rob, and I'm less than thrilled to hear him but I promised I'd help and a friend in need is a friend in need.  I throw on a pair of dirty jeans, a seriously disgusting white t-shirt, throw a little Axe on, pack up my laptop and make it to his place in about 5 minutes.

So I run from my room, yell at my mom for her being nosy, have a quick fight, get myself in a badddd mood, and run over to Rob's with much haste.  He comes out to greet me, totally nervous and freaking out.  He leads me to the back door, which strangely has a curtain pulled across it.  He says somethin like "Dave, I can't lie to you.  Diesel's not sick."   My heart jumps as I think I know what's coming and then he opens the back door, moves aside the curtain and I see all my best friends standing around.  It’s a surprise, early birthday party for me!  Standing in front of me are Rob's mom, Nick Woodfield, Steve Edelstein, Mike Krikorian, Ryan Schmitt and Kelsey.  I'm not sure if I actually did, but I really felt like crying right then.  I was THAT happy.  I hugged everyone.

Soooo, we went inside, did presents.  Rob gave me 2 shotglasses, 2 30packs of beer, an awesome sign for my room, and a bottle of his infamous Lucky cologne.  Nick gave me a funny as hell card and a gift certificate to the iTunes store.  Mike gave me a crapload of awesome Acid cigars.  Ryan said my gift was coming and that it was big.  I was excited.  Finally, Kels gave me 1) a card 2) two awesome horse-related books and 3) a horsie beanie baby.  Awesome haul.

Ryan made us all burgers, we ate them with much enthusiasm, then we made a run to my house to pick up my shisha and so I could change into something more appropriate. I couldn’t stop smiling!!! Then we all did the hot tub and pool.  Oh!  And Melissa showed up!  That made for another great friend to hang with.  I felt kind of bad for Nick and Steve, since they didn’t have suits and only sat on the sidelines the whole night: didn’t do the hot tub or pool, didn’t really talk much to anyone else, and didn’t do hookah either.  So, hookah.  After we went inside and dried off, we went into the garage to hookah.  Moved just in time since just after it started to POUR. Nick and Steve had to leave so we said goodbyes and then set up. We started hookah in Rob’s garage but AFTER ROB SPILT DANGEROUS, TOXIC AND FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS all over the floor, we had to move into another room. I grabbed my laptop from the car and we chilled out to good music, Le Tigre Kelsey shisha, and awesome company. Mel split for the night, but we’d see more of her later before the weekend was over.

Oh, and during hookah and musical awesomeness, Mike and I performed the infamous "Barbara Ann" dance scene from Saved by the Bell.  Afterwards, we also thrilled the ladies (and Ryan and Rob) by doing "The Pirates who Dont do Anything" dance.  Ah, good times, good times.

After hookah, we went into the TV room and watched 300. Somewhere during, Rob passed out (he started drinking at noon apparently). After this, since none of us (except for Rob) were sleepy, we went back and did hookah again. Same flavor, same awesome result. And since we spaced it with a movie, no hookah headache. Wow, felt just like SMC. I loved it. The coals seemed to burn REALLY hot in Kelsey’s hookah for some reason. I was dying the second time around after twenty minutes. After the second coming, we were all wiped, and hit the sack. Rob had his room, I had the couch, Mike had a sleeping bag on the ground and Ryan and Kels took the upstairs loft. I couldn’t sleep at all though. The dog snored really loud, and (more importantly I think) I kept hearing Ryan and Kels upstairs. I didn’t drink much, but my paranoia meter was working SERIOUS overtime (no comment). Anyways, I passed out around 3:30 I figure and then woke up around 6. Mike followed soon after. We cleaned up the house and then, when everyone else woke up around 7, we moved to my place for showers and my dad’s cooking (yay!).

By the way, I’m totally leaving stuff out, but there was so much awesomeness this weekend that I’m bound to forget or exclude something. So my apologies. After breakfast, Rob left to go do a few quick errands and then planned to meet us at his grandparents’ lake house. Meanwhile, I took the rest of the group (Ryan, Mike and Kels) to Fair Hill to show them my horsies, particularly Seeka. He was soooo sweet too. So well behaved. I was proud. After that, we arrived perfectly at the lake. We did some tanning, some jetskiing and a ton of tubing. Heh. I taunted Rob’s dad soooo bad to throw me, and he only rarely succeeded. Kind of bummed tho since I really screwed up my left shoulder again climbing back into the tube. Ryan made burgers and dogs again for us, and we met Rob’s newest female friend Allie. She’s nice and definitely a keeper for him. Haha, I approve.

After that, Rob, Allie and I went back to my house where I grabbed Kels those books she needed for Conley (I had to dig through 5 massive and heavy bins in my garage for you dear!) and then we headed over to Ryan’s house, where Ryan, Mike and Kels were already waiting. At first the plan was to go there, then Mel’s house near New Haven, then to this hookah bar in New Haven, then back to Ryan’s house, then back to Rob’s. It promised to be a ton of driving. Well, eventually we said screw it. Mel came to Ryan’s (we waited till 9 to eat because certain people took forever in the shower *cough*), and we ate at this AMAZING hibachi restaurant (where I was sung to, had shrimp thrown at my mouth, and was given my own little cake-always wanted that to happen to me one day, haha), and then we went to Ryan’s where we did another hookah (we figured why not, since I’m basically a hookah bar in my own right). Ryan even brought out a lazy susan so we could hookah in style. The other boys got creative with their hookah games I’ll say that: races around the yard in one breathe, and jumping on the trampoline and doing backflips so the smoke swirls in the mouth. After that, we headed back to Rob’s house around 11:30. Mel went home because she had to get up in the morning, and Kelsey stayed alone with Ryan at his place. She was basically passing out so it was just easier I suppose.  So Mike, Rob and I made the trip back in my car. Kind of bothered me how little time I was actually spending with Kels (before the party, I was planning on getting her down just so we could have another great weekend alone with good conversation and close company. Didn’t get either since she was spending so much time with Ryan it seemed).

Anyways, we got back to Rob’s, tried to watch Ghost Rider and slowly passed out one at a time over the course of it. Mike left about 30 min in, Rob lasted maybe another twenty and then I made it for an hour and a half about. We all slept in for once (aka 2:30-9am). Then Rob split for a bit for church and Mike and I entertained ourselves with playing Gears of War. Ryan showed up to drop off Kels, shook hands with me and Mike, said a special goodbye to Kels, and then split because he had to take care of his bros.

After Rob got back, we all got ready, packed up fully and then went out to eat at my brother’s diner in town. Service was horrible today (oddly), but we made up for it with conversation. Rob entertained himself by pulling the “Dave’s a psychic” gag on Kels and Mike. After we ate, I led them out to Rte 47, where they split to head home. It was a quick goodbye and wayyyy too short. I seriously didn’t want to let go of Kels when we hugged. Damn I’m a girl sometimes.

Anyways, awesome weekend. I can’t believe my friends, especially Rob. The best part would definitely be that moment when Rob opened the door and I saw all my friends gathered around, waiting with smiles. I can’t believe you all did what you did for me. I’m so blessed and lucky to have friends like you. Thanks so much, I’m in awe and love you all!!!!! <3
