Today went to watch one of the movies from the Japanese Film Festival 2011. Was lucky I actually double check the schedules since it seems, they don't show all of the movies at each GSC cinemas that took part in the screenings at the same time in each cinemas, but allocate certain days and certain set movies to each of the cinemas. So on certain days/time and certain movies, you may have to go to different venues to watch it.
Lucky too seeing that just as we (sister and I) went to buy tickets, we only left to choose seats from only 4 free seats. o_O Felt so dejavu. I think Mebius movie last time also was like that.
So what movie we watched?
“Second Chance” セカンドバージン
【Dir】 KUROSAKI Hiroshi
【Cast】SUZUKI Kyoka, HASEGAWA Hiroki, FUKADA Kyoko, Nurul Elfira Loy
Rui Nakamura, well-known throughout the publishing industry as a shrewd producer, falls madly in love with Koh Suzuki, the head of an Internet securities company, who is 17 years younger than her and already married to another woman. They had managed to overcome various obstacles, and the two of them had started living together, but then one day Koh just suddenly disappears from Rui's life. Five years later, Rui is in Malaysia for a business trip, and as if by destiny she meets Koh once again. But then Koh is shot before her very eyes! While hearing the inspirational words of the Koran sounds of azan (prayer calls) in the distance, he lingers in the world between life and death. Before long, Koh's wife Marie learns of his situation, and also shows up in Malaysia.

So obvious the reason I choose this title because of the Malaysia mention... hahahaha. Was surprised to see Elfira in this because it was never mentioned that she was in this. And now I finally found out that this movie haven't even been screened in Japan yet and we were among the few that watched it first. Whoa~ Feel so special.
Well, the movie was nice I guess... though some parts are left hanging. I mean, even till the end we were left hanging about what would happen to the relationship between Rui, Koh and Marie. It made me feel like... I wanna see the continuation of this story~~~ XD. And I wonder what'll happen to Koh with the connections to the Chinese Gangster group. Did Koh survived? Did he divorced? Did he lived happily ever after with Rui? I guess we'll never know.
But I guess the movie's focus was on the love between Rui and Koh, who had a large gap in age as well as Rui's struggle as she tries to care for Koh who were badly injured. Though I wonder why they had Koh being treated at that small local hospital and not some of the government hospital. Guess to get the kampung feel...
I like the interaction between Rui and Elfira's nurse character as she supported alongside Rui in caring for Koh. Not sure what to say about Marie, her part in the movie was not that much. And there were a lot of cryptic messages inside the movie that you probably won't be able to pick up on a single watch. Like the significance of the butterflies and that one that kinda came back to life some time later. I might/can relate with the Jigokucho/Hell's moth but I'm STILL blur. Or what did it mean when Marie just left after seeing the severity of her husband's injuries.
That aside... other perks of the movie is... Lettuce! Not the veggie, but the name of Rui's cat. DANG cat is SO CUTE!! It was so cuddly and fluffy and hrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! I wanna HUG IT! Serious I might call random cat Lettuce after this XD.
Random funnies was during several times in the movie when there where flashback/present scenes of Rui and Koh's affair, aka their makeout scenes and kissing scenes. The guys handling the screening ended up slipping in strips of paper to hide the faces of the cast kissing passionately or blocking most of the screen with paper to 'censor' the scene. Everyone including me was giggling hard since WE CAN STILL HEAR THEM HAHAHAHA so funny. A lot of Japanese people who lived in Malaysia had come to watch this movie and they were VERY amused at this. So funny I don't blame them XD. First time I experience this kind of 'censorship', PEOPLE SHOULD DO THIS TO ALL MOVIES AIRED IN MALAYSIA X3333 instead of the usual scene cuts. XDDDDDDDD It would be more fun~ 'Earworm'~
Later went to Kinokuniya. Went spazzing at old/new photobooks/mags/toku mags there for no reason. XD
