[Karai is in the library today, as she has been for several days this week. In a quiet corner, carefully looking up certain legends. Why she agreed to do a favour for her pig of a neighbour comes down more to repayment of a debt than any genuine concern for his welfare, but she supposes this is a step up from brooding and doing nothing at all ( Read more... )

this is totally socialising, voice, action, clearly a nefarious plot

Dragons are only myth in my world, as far as I know. But the stories about them are very wonderful.

[Oh hi, Karai. It's Ami again.]

[Ami again. Well, Karai keeps her neutral tone.] These stories would hail from Japan, correct?

Mm. That's why... I wonder, are they the same ones you know? It might be something similar between our worlds. [Ever earnest Ami.]

Do we not both come from the same world? [There's some faint irritation there, mixed with puzzlement. They both come from Japan. It hasn't quite occurred to her that there might be more than one Japan.]

I don't think we do. It's possible we've just been ignorant of it, but I don't think the things I've heard about from your world exist in mine.

[Though some things that are just as strange do, certainly.]

It is very possible you have been ignorant. [Her world consists of ninnnnja, after all. But she's more considering, now. Ami may have a point.]

Perhaps we can find out for certain in the tales of dragons that you know.

Karai-san, would you like to come over to visit some evening? We could tell each other these tales then. I think Dil might like to hear them, too.

[Blink. Blinkblink. One does not simply invite known evil overlords into your home, you know 8| But after a brief silence, Karai offers a faint smile. Because it occurs to her who may very well be listening in.]

I would accept such an invitation. Who is Dil?

[Ami knows about Karai's grudge towards the turtles; she doesn't believe it has to mean she becomes a part of it herself. She refuses to be brought into someone's vengeance ever again - particularly against people she considers friends - but she also doesn't believe in shutting someone out. So the invitation is, of course, sincere. It made sense to continue the conversation more comfortably.]

Dil is a boy who was brought here. He lives here with me.

[She still thinks you're an idiot, Ami. But at least she won't take advantage of it. Much.]

When are you free?

Usually the evenings. [Especially now, when she tries to make sure she's around for Dil the way no one was around for her growing up.]

Then perhaps one evening when you have some time to spare, I could come for dinner.

It seems like the most convenient way to share these stories. It might be sort of enjoyable.

Then I will await a further invitation from you. Perhaps you should check with your boy first.

I'll ask him if it's alright with him.
