Recs for H/C Bingo

Notes:This was done for hc_bingo and the prompt: healer, table found Here. For my Healer square I once again decided to rec fics. These stories either focus on the healers themselves as they try to help their patients or on patients and how they respond to the medical treatments, the doctors, and nurses as they receive help.
1. Closer. by C7 (Magnificent Seven)
This story is one of my favorites because it not only does the author get Mary’s pov spot on but we get to see Nathan and Mary working together to try to heal Chris. Mary also uses her time at Chris’s bedside to think about her and Chris’ relationship and where it’s headed and where she wants it to go. I love getting a bit of Nathan Mary friendship which isn’t expressed a lot in fic.
2. Fires by LaraMee (Magnificent Seven)
When Billy is taken hostage by a bank robber and Chris becomes injured trying to stop the thief from living with the little boy. Being very stubborn he insists on riding out after the duo despite being injured, so a very concerned Nathan and Vin go with him. I love this story mainly because we get to see a usually stoic Chris show just how much he cares for Billy and how far he will go to keep him safe. Plus I love Nathan as a healer and friend as he helps look for Billy and look after an injured Chris.
3. Just Another Day by deinonychus-1(BBC Atlantis/Primeval)
I love crossover stories and Just Another Day is one of my favorites because it has three of my favs working together to wrangle a dinosaur. Does it get any better than that? Becker, Jason, and Pythagoras are awesome characters and to see them interact just fills me with excitement. Becker ends up in Atlantis and he’s not alone a dinosaur came with him, and now it’s up to the trio to get them back through the anomaly without anyone getting hurt. It doesn’t quite work out. I love how Pythagoras tries to take care of everyone first by bandaging up Becker and then by sacrificing himself. Plus I love that Pythagoras starts to cotton on to the fact that Jason and Becker have a few things in common.
4. What's eating Tim McGee? by Emerald_green37 (NCIS)
This story takes place after the episode Dog Tags. McGee’s injuries are not healing like they should. His doctors’s become desperate and decide to try something unusual, which of course Tim has a big phobia about. What I love about this story is the way Gibbs takes care of Tim and supports him thru the various medical procedures. Plus when the team finds out they are front and center trying to help in any way they can.
5. The Rational Man by Gaerwn (Bonanza)
A peaceful afternoon is shattered by violence - but that's just the beginning. The Cartwrights find themselves in a fight to protect an old family friend. This story feels like an episode of the show. Adam becomes injured in a shootout he is taken care of by the town doc Paul Martin. I loved getting to see more of the Doc he doesn’t get near enough fic written about him.
6. The Broken Road by Jess Riley (The Sentinel)
This story takes place after the episode Brother’s Keeper. Jim is invited to a family retreat, he brings Blair with him. Of course trouble soon follows and Blair’s life hangs in the balance. What I love about this story is Jim and Blair’s relationship is more like family. Families of choice are really my favorite trope by far in fan fiction. Also I love the two oc’s the author introduces in this fic. Ben and Josh are EMT’s who respond and try to help Blair, they are fully fleshed out characters who are so well written you wish they were regularly written in other Sentinel fic.
7. The Heart of the Matter by Kara Sullivan (The Sentinel)
This is a great classic Sentinel story. Blair is run through the health care system when his heart develops a problem. What is great about this story is the amount of accurate medical detail that Blair has to go through in order to get better. Jim is there for him even through it is very early in their friendship.
8. Like Today Never Happened by Nefhiriel (Avengers)
Steve returns to his pre-serum state. It is quite the adjustment for him and the other Avengers. I have read this story many times and I still love it. I love Avenger’s stories where they are a family and they take care of each other. This story is a great example of that. I love how the Avengers rally around their Captain, and help him find his place with them in his pre-serum body. They also do a great job of being there for him when his health takes a turn for the worst. It is such a well written story!
9. Cardiac Crisis by Jazzie G (Hawaii 5-O)
Danny is a very stubborn person, which can be a good thing when it comes to a case but a very bad trait when it comes to his own personal health. I love this story because it shows the aftereffects of a very serious medical crisis plus the h/c is really well done.
10. Of Education by Myselfonly (LOTR)
Gimli is ill and Legolas tries to take care of him. I love this story because Legolas isn’t much of a healer but he tries and Gimli is an awful patient but he tries as well. Plus Myselfonly does a great job of not only showing the physical h/c for Gimli’s illness but she also shows the emotional h/c of an immortal being confronted with the mortality of his friend.
