...and back to sleep, eat, study, watch something

Welcome to May!

I was welcomed by postcards from both penmi and the lovely lovely tsuristyle, which helped a lot with easing me back in.
Had a minor setback yesterday but to be honest I'm simply too busy right now to worry a lot about myself. I have promised my mother to make an appointment with my doctor, though.
My first exam is in a week and I found that out two days ago so I only have a few days left to turn a lot of fannish flail and way too much information about SMAP into a presentation.
I mean, the topic could be way worse XD
For the presentation I looked up stuff about the media coverage of Tsuyoshi's 裸だったら何が悪い? (What's wrong with being naked?) scandal, and ended up with a song.
*dies* Also, this. I hurt myself laughing.

Anyway, the unbelievable has happened! Some deity has listened to my pleas and has graced Japan with good dramas!!
With the new season, Jin has finally beaten Suna no Utsuwa as my favourite drama ever. I am beiginning to suspect that I might be in love with period dramas from just about any country, be it England or jidaigeki from Japan. It is just so interesting!
So while this is of course my absolute favourite at the moment, there are also two more definitely worth mentioning.

At first I didn't want to watch it because I know how obssessed Japan is with skinny people and I thought the message should be that people are fine the way they are, like in Busu no hitomi no koishiteru, but the thing is I really go for the combination Aibu Saki + Hayami Mokomichi, I do.
They are my favourite on-screen pair after Tsumabuki Satoshi and Fukatsu Eri so yeah, I kind of had to, and I went in with the expectation to give up on it pretty quickly but man, it was funny.

Saki's character comes from a happy family full of fat people. She was bullied at school and one day discovered her love for cake through a strawberry short cake of epic awesomeness...

...which left her looking like this. Seriously, I suspect a lot of people just tuned in because they wanted to know what Aibu Saki would look like fat. I think it's mega cute.

With the help of lots of training and her diabolical therapist however, she lost weight, but her personality stayed what can best be described as a hyperactive pig, snorting laugh and all.

Also the faces she makes? Wonderful.

I am also in love with her housemate who isn't impressed by anything and can eat unimaginable amounts of food without ever gaining weight, just like me.

One day however work sends her to this cake shop she is supposed to review.

The owner of this shop is Mokomoko, who seems to be a total prince charming.

Even though having vowed never to eat cake again she ends up tasting it only to be left... unimpressed.

Cue prince charming showing his real face: the prince has a serious rage problem.

I laughed so hard at him.

Know where he borrowed this face? NAGASE.

But the other ones are also priceless XD

In order to find the perfect cake, he bullies her into becoming a cake taster for him...

... which of course ends in her gaining weight again. (The face!!!!!)

THIS SUPPOSED TO BE WEIGHT GAIN. LOOK AT MY SADFACE, JAPAN.

You get to see him make cakes. Seriously, this is such a huge kink of mine I don't ven know where to start. I am going to marry a baker because as soon as I witness one working on a cake I will probably have to jump him.

And the fugly glasses!! Sex me up, Mokomichi.

This takes self-confidence XD

And now of course!!! The one! the only! the one I can finally talk about because subs for the first episode are out now and you can all go watch it!

Ladies, meet perfection.

Also a giant among men.

The plot... well... *sigh* I still don't like that they say she doesn't have to go to a marriage agency because she looks "too perfect". Pfff WAT.
But the fact that she has got real problems even though she is pretty, and has to take care of an entire family and just wants to escape by marrying is a realistic idea and is sensibly enough portrayed, I think.

And he is the workaholic who can make everyone happy but himself with is so "The Wedding Planner" but do I care?
I seriously believe this role works so well with him because there is part Shingo in this. He is never only the uber-happy clown, he is a hard-working man without a girlfriend. It's not a stretch.

This is so his real after-work face.

...what's so cute though...

...is that he still lives with his MOM.

He's also a slop.

The ending theme thingie is the cutest thing ever.

And creepily enough they fit really well together. It youa sked me I could well go without Naka Riisa and Naohito Fujiki even though I love them both. I could just continue watching Meisa and Shingo being cute with each other.

After watching this I had this dream where Shingo's character gets together with Tsuyoshi's character from Ninkyo Helper and Nakai from Konkatsu.
SHINGO AS NAKAI'S MARRIAGE COUNSELLOR, THINK ABOUT IT matching him with Tsuyoshi and falling in love with yakuza-boy himself askslshsghaf

Went to watch Source Code the day before yesterday.
I don't know why but the film felt short as hell, and the more I think about it the less sense it makes while the real "plot" (finding the bomber) is actually quite a simplistic downer.
I think I am finally ready to admit how much I love Jake Gyllenhaal though. His face! He is a merry-go-round of emotional display!
