congratulations to s & r.

we went to a s & r's wedding in poughkeepsie this weekend. it was my first wedding with a full catholic mass and i must admit it was a strange affair. there were a couple points when i felt very angry at the misogynistic drivel coming out of the minister's mouth and i had to keep reminding myself that this is about s & r who are both practicing catholics; it's not about me and my feelings about the catholic church.

after the ceremony a group of us walked over to a diner and killed a couple hours there before heading back to the poughkeepsie grand hotel for the reception. aside from the inedible food the reception was fantastic. i got a chance to catch up with friends i haven't seen in ages and we did lots of dancing to a so-bad-it's-good DJ party mix.

after midnight we took a hotel shuttle bus down to a local "bar" which turned out to be a frat boy filled club. we promptly walked back to the hotel, picked up beer, and decided to go congregate in one room.

in the elevator s., in his drunken stupidity, thought it a brilliant idea to jump on my back. he's a pretty small dude but it was completely unexpected and i ended up falling right on my almost healed tailbone. the pain of re-injuring a recent injury was so intense i was monetarily paralyzed. then i thought of how badly the last 3 weeks have sucked, of missing another monday derby scrimmage, of s. having no foresight, and i kinda-sorta flipped out. i know s. didn't consider for a second that he actually might hurt me and that is exactly what irked me terribly. what a downside to an otherwise great weekend.

i'm walking around like a 75 year old today.

health, friends, people
