See, this is an interpretation I like! Unfortunately it's a tough sell since people seem to not want to allow the notion that he's not as buff as he could potentially be. Alas...but I'd read fic about that.
I've also considered the fact that I think I have different expectations based on a character's expected role...I don't think I'd have had the same reaction to say a shirtless Castiel, or some other character meant to be less physically imposing. I have different expectations based on different established character traits, which I think is interesting. I guess I expect Dean to look like somebody who could take a two-by-four to the chest and keep going. (I had a karate teacher who used to tell stories about how his instructor would make the class kneel and then hit them around the body with boards. Apparently it builds muscle?)
Hey, I'm grateful they're not adhering to realism; if they did, neither of those boys would have any freaking teeth! Besides, they carry their scars on the INSIDE (of Dean's liver!)!
I do wonder frequently how Sam maintains his frankly ridiculous physique eating nothing but salads. I'm a vegetarian. I know that's pretty freakin' impossible.
Do you mean they'd have no teeth from getting knocked around so much, from bad diet/dental hygiene practices, or both? Because frankly I could see it being any of those.
