God, I love you. So much. Did you know that? The monster, the slow horror of it all, that first line--I adore it all. As for rehashing...I really do think this is an entirely acceptable crossover! Especially for those of us who did not have the good fortunes to read the story this was inspired by or modeled from. Think of it as a remix! ;)

Anyway, this was fantastic fantastic. Great job! (And need I mention great addition to the tag? XD)

Hah! I guarantee there is not another living soul out there who would do something this nutso with this prompt. So, uh, yay? And I'm so glad that you genuinely enjoyed the fruits of my TOTAL INSANITY. Heh. ♥

Someday I'll write a fic which includes the second half of the h/c equation, wherein there is actual 'comforting' going on. Just, y'know, not with this prompt. Because I would have to stab myself in the eye if I tried. The horror, the horror!

Thanks a bunch! Love and kisses and, like, skulls and stuff!

Ahahaha. I've never read a 'spooning' fic before this version, so now this will be my frame of reference for all the spoons forever. The idea tickles the necro in me, it does.

Wow, that was amazing. Really. The mood and the panic and the urgency, and the ash almost makes you feel like you're suffocate yourself and DUH. AMAZING.

“Come back,” Sam hears, and realizes it’s his own voice, cracked around the edges. He puts his forehead on the top of Dean’s skull, breathes and shudders and inhales the smell of ashes.

Come back. Come back. Come back.
*weeps* You can't end it there?!

You dare ask me for MOAR?? *thunders*

Heh. I actually considered doing a follow-up--with no goddamn spooning of any kind tyvm--so I still might. We'll see. ;) I do kind of want to write something where there's some post-trauma brotherly interaction going on, since my fics tend to end right where that would start. This is a good candidate since it's short and pretty straightforward, and set in the no-man's land after John's death but before the evil-clown happenings.

Glad you enjoyed this! Despite my iffy feelings about the fic, I do like the setting, the ashes and what-all. I want anthropological fieldwork fic about the hunter culture and how no one ever gets buried, and stuff...I think there's an awesome thesis paper there just waiting for the right researcher.

Thanks very much!

Ahem. *hides behind a rock*

*re-emerges* Just... Tell me Dean will be all right, and I'll be quiet. He will be, yes? *blinks*

No, wait. Actually, now that you mention post-trauma brotherly interaction: GIMME!!

(Yes, I'm being silly today. Never mind me.)

No need to feel iffy about it at all, it's gorgeous. Trust me. ;) And man, yeah, I'd love to read that too.

Hah, I can't tell you that Dean will be all right because...he's Dean Winchester. That'd be like saying the sky is green. But I, uh, take your meaning. And I'm sure Sammy will nurse him back to health and sanity...gradually. Perhaps there will be soup of some kind. I dunno. Pishacha are known to cause insanity in victims...muahaha.

I'll add it to my to-do list. I may actually be able to knock something out at some point.

Very creepy.... Especially how Dean is really not there. In body, yes, but the way you describe his eyes empty, body loose... He could be dead and Sam doesn't/ wouldn't know... Brrr.

Ooh yeah, I like that take very much. HE MIGHT BE DEAD. Look out, Sam! (This picked up this will-Dean-live-or-won't-he vibe that I like a lot, since it's pretty much the resolution of season 2. So that was a bit of luck for me. ;)

So glad you enjoyed!
