Someday I'll write a fic which includes the second half of the h/c equation, wherein there is actual 'comforting' going on. Just, y'know, not with this prompt. Because I would have to stab myself in the eye if I tried. The horror, the horror!
Thanks a bunch! Love and kisses and, like, skulls and stuff!

“Come back,” Sam hears, and realizes it’s his own voice, cracked around the edges. He puts his forehead on the top of Dean’s skull, breathes and shudders and inhales the smell of ashes.
Come back. Come back. Come back.
*weeps* You can't end it there?!

Heh. I actually considered doing a follow-up--with no goddamn spooning of any kind tyvm--so I still might. We'll see. ;) I do kind of want to write something where there's some post-trauma brotherly interaction going on, since my fics tend to end right where that would start. This is a good candidate since it's short and pretty straightforward, and set in the no-man's land after John's death but before the evil-clown happenings.
Glad you enjoyed this! Despite my iffy feelings about the fic, I do like the setting, the ashes and what-all. I want anthropological fieldwork fic about the hunter culture and how no one ever gets buried, and stuff...I think there's an awesome thesis paper there just waiting for the right researcher.
Thanks very much!

*re-emerges* Just... Tell me Dean will be all right, and I'll be quiet. He will be, yes? *blinks*
No, wait. Actually, now that you mention post-trauma brotherly interaction: GIMME!!
(Yes, I'm being silly today. Never mind me.)
No need to feel iffy about it at all, it's gorgeous. Trust me. ;) And man, yeah, I'd love to read that too.

I'll add it to my to-do list. I may actually be able to knock something out at some point.
