Random Kid: Man I cannot wait to get out of this po-dunk town.
Sookie: Well make sure you do and before its too late because every year you wait you get more and more stuck here. Believe me, I know.

Let's start with the obvious. Both girls are waitresses in the town's local family establishments; The Crashdown Cafe and Merlotte's. In this scene carrying burgers and sporting the work-appropriate pony-tail. However, both girls are also trapped in small southern towns where everyone knows them and has watched them grow up. Everyone knows Liz because her parents own The Crashdown and many people know of Sookie in relation to her town bicycle of a brother.

Larry: Does anyone in your family know anything about the UFO crash?

Obvious the Rattrays are way worse than Larry & Jen, but let's indulge in the similarities that both girls serve these odd couples who aren't town natives and who play an integral role in the plots of the first episode. Also, Larry & Jen have a thirst for knowledge of aliens and conspiracies and you could say that the Rattrays have a similar thirst for vampires.

Liz: Well, I guess it would be okay to show you guys this...

Liz pulls out the goods; a fake old photograph of (supposedly) a dead alien. Meanwhile, Sookie is more repressive of her supernatural ability to hear what people are thinking.

Maria: You are so bad, girl. Oh, and Max Evans is staring at you again.

Okay, I know, Tara is Sookie's BFF. However, Tara is not a waitress. Arlene is a good friend and more alike to Maria (or at least Maria's mom, Amy) with her quirky personality.

Commence the intense panty-dropping stares.

Sookie: Oh my god! I think Merlotte's just got its first vampire!

Okay, so Sookie's lustful look lasts a day or two longer than Liz's glance, but there is a wistful longing and consideration in both. It's their reaction to the two men and its the beginning of two deliciously supernatural love stories.
