I'm in Jamaica and therefore out of the freezer. Yesterday was the first day that I really got to enjoy being here.
My arrival was far from smooth. I had 2 lengthy stop-overs and somewhere along the way, one piece of my luggage (the one with all the Christmas gifts) went missing. I also had to clear immigration and customs twice and when I got into Kingston, 7 other flights arrived at the same time so the customs hall was so full and humid. The following day, I spent 12 hours on a bus picking up my brother from the airport in Montego Bay and taking him into Kingston. Traffic was a nightmare both ways. We were so rushed getting to Bud and back home, that I didn't get to see my other brother. He was too busy working to meet us at the airport. It's just as well, since we didn't have much time at the airport and we spent more time trying to leave the airport than parked there. Hopefully, we'll see him for Christmas. Took us 4 hours to get back home.
Then, I got a migraine for the history books. I took 4 Naproxen, 2 Tums and two fingers of rum and I was still in pain for 10 hours. I was tempted to take a nail-gun to my brain. In fact, I think I dreamed that I did that.
Anyway, all that is behind me now. They found my luggage and delivered it and I managed to get a prescription of Valium for my headache. I'm sitting on the veranda now with a glass of sorrel, the prospect of a St. Julian mango and pineapple slices to eat, with clear blue skies in view and a cool salty breeze over me. The only thing that could ruin this now is for ... OH BUGGER!!! Photos of Gerard Butler with a mystery woman have surfaced on the INTERNETS!!! I knew I should have left my laptop in Canada.
gerry,
