I keep forgetting to mention 2 things. First, we saw a Great Gray Owl (life list #150). The largest owl in North America I think. Amazing! I was so happy. They are not afraid of people at all (they have very little contact with people, so they don't know what pricks humans can be), so we were able to walk right up to the tree it was in. It was about 10 feet off the ground, so we got an amazing view. I can't find a site that will host a graphic for me, so here's a link:

They are only in this area because of conditions up north. I have also seen 3 flying. They are huge, so they are pretty unmistakable.

Second, C bought an elliptical trainer. This means that I can comfort myself in my laziness by sweating to the oldies while watching American Idol. Now that all the contestants can actually sing I think it's better..... I've never watched this show before, but I can't see what people found so great about the auditions. I could barely watch them. I had to turn away when they person couldn't sing. I thought that there would be a lot of people who just wanted to be terrible so they'd get on TV, but it was pretty depressing.... I think they weeded those people out and didn't entertain them. These people that got on TV genuinely believed they could sing, and were amazed that the judges failed to recognize their incredible talent.

I haven't been running in ages due to the lack of adequately plowed surfaces. At least, that is what I tell myself. Did I mention I've been sick for a month? I'm just getting over it now. The dog's muscles are threatening to atrophy (is that spelt rite?), so it's good that the running conditions are getting better.

C will be home on friday. We're going to the lacrosse game on Saturday. Hopefully the Rock will kick some butt.
