Toronto Comic Arts Festival and also large amounts of shame.

I was thinking about gracing everyone with another tear-shedding, woe-is-me, utterly emo entry about how my life consists of plateaus and valleys or something like that, but instead, I thought I would say this.

I am going to the Toronto Comic Arts Festival tomorrow! In the words of the website linked, it "exists to promote the breadth and diversity of comics, and what is considered comics, as legitimate medium of literary and artistic worth," which basically means, it's a little artier and indier than your average comic book convention. The guest roster is rather slanted towards Canadian artists, specifically those from Toronto, and a lot of people I like will be there.

Darwyn Cooke is having a signing session, so I'm going to get my copy of Absolute New Frontier signed (which will be the first time I've ever had a book signed, actually). I hope getting it signed doesn't involve having to explain how much I loved reading it, because I still haven't done that, despite having had it since February. (Shame.) I also plan to visit Bryan Lee O'Malley's booth and probably buy Lost at Sea and Scott Pilgrim v. 1-3, because I do not own these books, shamefully enough! According to his livejournal, he will sign all four books and draw a sketch in one of the Scott Pilgrim books and in Lost at Sea, which sounds good to me.

Dave Sim, Cameron Stewart, and Stuart Immonen are all going to be there, and I'll probably try and find them as well. There are some other people whose work I've never read, but I'll gladly check out their booths and maybe buy stuff if I have money.

So, it should be fun. I promise scans of sketches received and possibly pictures if I take a camera.

P.S. I plan to start writing in here again, for the record. It is actually really fun and I always forget that.
