If you're able to, and if one of our companions are willing, I would look into borrowing a Pokemon that can be ridden.
That would shorten the time you spend traveling to get to Goldenrod by at least a week.
If you defeat the gym in Violet, you can also look into borrowing a Pokemon that can fly, which would make the travel a few days.
