Oh Fandom

I cannot believe the cojones of some people. Yesterday, several of the publicity people at WB/CW were tweeted by a small group of so-called fans in an effort to get a spoiler source fired. duskwillow has a good run up here, and I agree with pretty much everything she said. I've been debating speaking up all morning, because I do have Chlark and Chlois friends, but what was done yesterday is so unbelievable I don't feel right not saying something about it. So here goes:

Trying to get a real person fired from their real life job over a fictional television show based on a comic book whose romantic end game has been known for seventy years is one of the stupidest, most vicious stunts I have ever seen in my life. I've seen better behavior from elementary school students, and they don't have years upon years of societal training to know that's a crappy thing to do.

Did your parents not teach you right from wrong? Seriously? Everyone has a right to their own opinion, I absolutely believe it. You can hate Chloe, or Lois, or Tess or whoever all you want, and write lots of sub-par fan fiction around whatever pairing you prefer, but the minute your opinion infringes on someone else's life? That's what that thing we like to call common sense is supposed to kick you in the butt and say, "Hey, wait a minute. Is this a really good idea?"

In conclusion: Your mama did not raise you right if you think that getting someone fired over a tv show because the plot isn't going your way is a productive use of your time.

And to make things clear for my flist - here is where I stand on Smallville shipping in general.

Ship: Clark/Lois, Clark/Dinah, Oliver/Dinah, Oliver/Lois, Lois/Tess, and Chloe/George.

Don't ship: Clark/Chloe, Clark/Lex (just can't make myself slash them, sry), or Chloe/Oliver.

But I don't mind discussing the show, or ships in general, with people who actually watch it and want intelligent debate. If you come here looking for trouble, I have no problem telling you to go find another playground.

So lets all try to be polite and stop making the entire fandom look like loons.
