Summary: Juugo settles down to wait for his esteemed leader, and encounters someone entirely different in the meantime. Suddenly he's not the only one in Armastus who grew up in an isolated forest terrifying local villagers with his monstrous shapeshifting anymore.

Juugo wasn't doing anything in particular. His junogam was set carefully down on the stone next to him, occasionally nudged by this bird or the other as they jostled to tell their new friend all about their most recent flight and everything they'd seen, eaten and felt on it. Apparently he was a better roost than the statue behind him, or maybe just a better listener. He didn't mind; every bit of information they could give him he mulled over intently, piecing them together until he had a vague map of the area in the eyes of its birds. It was relaxing work. Something he could focus on, while he waited for Sasuke.

It had been an eventful day. Not eventful in the way he always feared; it had been slow, informative, the kind of eventful he could handle alone. He knew without a doubt that had he woken somewhere other than the tiny, peaceful village, had he encountered anyone other than the cheerful villagers busy with their lives or the talkative birds gathered around him, it would have been another matter entirely. He had destroyed villages like this before, but he wouldn't let himself remember them. Instead, he breathed in the fragrant air, and felt the energy suffusing the village. It wasn't chakra, but that didn't really matter to Juugo. It had the same effect, brought the same sense of peace.

With the energy filling him and soothing away the wilder impulses, he thought over what he knew. One of the villagers had told him the Caravan would leave in a day, which was a shame. Part of him wanted more than anything to stay here, in Armastus. But he knew that was impossible. Irresponsible and dangerous. Armastus was peaceful, but the longer he stayed there, the less likely it was to stay that way. His place was with Sasuke, where he could be controlled. This he accepted.

By this point, several birds had lodged themselves firmly on his shoulders and knees, the rest had flown off, and Sasuke still wasn't in sight. With nothing more to do, he settled himself back against the statue's base - one of the cat-sized sparrows chirped at him severely, but didn't deign to move - and fell into a doze.
