Gau held his breath, shifting from foot to foot, intent on the noise outside. he thought he heard a girl's voice, though the echoing on the metal against his ear made it a little harder to hear.

He froze as a though occurred to him.

Oh no.

A girl needed to use the shower?

Red crept down the back of his neck as he shook his head hard.
No, no, no Meguro Gau!
Think! THINK! Never mind that telltale blankness that either translates into asinine action or rooted terror!
She's probably already inside! And in an awkward state!

And he couldn't exactly just jump out, right? It would be indecent, and make him look like a pervert.

He shifted and nearly slipped on a wet patch, grabbing one of the shower knobs with a high yelp, then clapping a hand over his mouth to stifle another as jets of freezing water rained down on him and plastered his hair into his eyes.

Now that girl was definitely going to think he was a pervert. He wanted to kick himself, but bit his lip instead, holding back a hiss, and gripping the aching scar in his right side. It stung in the temperature change like it was hit with a hive of bees.
