Your transport creaks and groans as you go deeper and deeper into the lake. They're ominous sounds, but the mechanical fish are sturdy and no leaks have made themselves apparent. While the lake should be dark with its depth, enough light from the rising sun is breaking through the water, as well as glowing posts of some sort of rock that line the path the ferries take. If you look outside the fish's glass eyes, you'll notice a city coming into view - Sintala! There are clusters of houses lined with the same type of glowing rock, market squares and other buildings you would normally see in any above water village. There is also a large palace, and the long bodies of mermen wind around the pillars - patrolling the grounds and scaring away any fresh-water creatures that get too close.
The mechanical fish dock at a floating platform. By now, you will have eaten the Gillyweed herb Simon advised you. There's a three-second beep of warning before the back fins open, and water floods the compartment!
Your eyes don't sting when you open them in the water, and whether or not you choose to inhale or wait until you can't fight the feeling any more, you can breathe just as smoothly as if it is air. It's a very peculiar feeling, but at least you're not drowning, right?
Feel free to explore Sintala! Simon will soon call for the treasure hunting group to come together, and the tribal challenge will be announced when it begins, but for now you have time to explore. There are merpeople swimming around if you wish to interact with them - though they don't look the most friendly - and there are a few separate market places throughout the city if you want to get some shiny baubles for your collection! If you try to approach the palace, you will be forced by some angry looking guards to keep your distance. Jeez, some hosts these merpeople are...
