"What?"

The mention of Lightning teaching her how to fight sent an odd shiver down his spine; he shot her a sidelong glance, eyebrows raised. Not much could still surprise him now, but he definitely hadn't expected that.

"You won't have to run away," he protested, shaking his head slightly as he still pondered the thought of Serah fighting alongside them. He was a hero - he was her hero - and if she could protect herself, what would be left of him? "Not if I'm here," he added softly, his free hand tightening in unison with his jaw.

Snow would never let anything happen to her, but on the other hand, some things were out of his control. He had been completely helpless when she had turned into crystal, and perhaps the future held more unpleasant surprises. He couldn't risk her safety simply out of pride... but wouldn't fighting automatically put her in danger?

"...but I guess it wouldn't hurt," he mused out loud, entering a new corridor. If she was able to defend herself, both he and Lightning could be more at peace. Oh, she wasn't completely helpless, of course, but she had never been into battle. If she knew how to attack, and how to counter the ones thrown at her, she would be protected twice as well as she already was now.

Snow turned his head around to look at her, his face serious. It wasn't that bad of an idea, and even though he could see the positive side of it, he still wasn't too sure whether he really liked it or not.

"Just promise me you won't go into battle without me," he said, because no matter what, he'd always want to watch over her.
