Yuusei had seated himself rather comfortably in one of the couches in the lobby on Level 2, looking a little pensive as he put his deck box out and emptied it into the palm of his hand, setting it off to the side and silently going through his cards. They are a somewhat welcome reminder of home, and basically the only thing he had on his person when coming here--his duel disk having been rendered useless by the strange world, the reason is something he can't even begin to fathom. Waves disrupting the signals to Solid Vision? Maybe a too-hard fall?

Holding a card up in his hand, he took a long look at it, eyes lingering on the picture as he then placed it down and picked up another card. The shuffling of his deck was done in complete silence. Flicking the card in the wan light of the caravan, he placed it down next to the first one and continued moving through his deck. He didn't really notice anyone passing through the room, too far inside of his memories. Between Rudger's mentionings of Zero Reverse and the fact that he wasn't out ( ... )

Unbeknown to Yuusei, there was a small child watching this development from behind one of the couches farther back from him. Though admittedly, most of Link's initial interest had been piqued by Yuusei's bizarre hair and facial markings, most of his attention had since then shifted to the (cards?) the young man was shuffling through. Link had never seen anything like them before, and quite honestly wanted to see them from a closer view.

This was what prompted him to approach slowly, until he was able to peer around Yuusei's couch to stare, a little wide-eyed with his wonder. It had not yet registered that being watched so intently by a child may have been a little perturbing.

[OOC: it was the worst day ever 8|]

Yuusei blinked a bit as he felt the gaze settling on him from his place on the couch. Turning his head a bit, he caught a glimpse of green out of the corner of his eyes and raised one brow. He wasn't startled, though his previous thoughts now scattered to the far corners of his mind--this was somewhat of a welcome break. Setting down another card, he spoke, "You know, it's easier to see if you come around." He was relatively used to younger kids, Rally having been quite a bit of practice, followed by Rua, who was a lot more lively than his twin sister.

Setting down his deck, he splayed out the cards in a neat row, overlapping one another in their various hues of white, orange, purple, and green, some yellow.

Oh. Whoops. He almost squeaked when his cover was blown, but instead of withdrawing he pretended as though this had been his intention all along. Trying a curious expression, he slid out from behind the furniture to lean over the armrest. He offered a small wave as means of "hello", though it was fairly obvious at this point that his attention was being grabbed much more by the colourful cards.

He wondered what exactly they were for. They looked like pictographs to him, but he could see writing on them in a strange, squiggly alphabet. Though he was fully expecting it to be the case, he could not help but be a little disappointed that it was not the writing of Hylian, nor a language he had ever seen before.

Yuusei pulled one of them out of place and held it carefully. "They're really common where I'm from," he murmured and turned it over a few times before smiling just a bit at the boy. "You seem really young... what's your name?" he asked.

His eyes immediately followed the displaced card, looking a little puzzled at the pink creature but not otherwise commenting on it. He'd never seen a monster like that before... had somebody drawn it, then? The idea was beginning to seem more likely than a pictograph. Unless, the young man meant that those creatures were common where he was from? This possibility made Link's eyes widen considerably, stare of wonder returning.

He almost missed the question, but he managed to pull his eyes away from the card long enough to reply. "Link," he returned simply, voice quiet and underused, and clearly belonging to a young child indeed.

Setting it down, he sighed a bit, catching sight of a few others that only made the slightly stressful pang in his stomach ache even more. Shifting each one up a bit, he began settling them side by side, recreating his own moves that he'd used against Rudger before falling straight down into the Momentum they'd been battling over. What would happen when he went home? Would he still be plunging in? Would he be dead? In another world? He wasn't quite sure...

Yuusei nodded at the sound of the quite voice and held out his hand for a shake. The boy looked rather small, then again maybe he was younger than Yuusei estimated in his mind. "I'm Yuusei," he said in turn. Was he shy? Maybe he was just a quiet kid in general. More of an observer than a participant...?

Link watched this process intently, scanning all of the cards' images and trying to remember them. Some of them looked pretty menacing, but Link was willing to assume this was for intimidation purposes. Still, he felt the urge to ask all about what these strange little pictographs were supposed to be rising as he looked them over. He couldn't even begin to tame all of the ideas his imagination was producing for them.

Raising one small hand to shake the older boy's, and tried an amiable little smile in return. His name was Yuusei, then? Kind of exotic, but that only interested Link more. Deciding this was a good an opportunity as any, he pointed an inquisitive finger at the cards spread out, hoping Yuusei would explain more.

The curious pointing brought Yuusei to nod a bit and pick up five of the cards, fanning them out to show him. It was rare that anyone had to ask him about the game in his world, so he was stumbling over words in his mind for a brief moment, eyes focused on the ceiling in thought before he actually spoke. "It's a game where I'm from. You have your own deck of cards and battle one another with them to lower each others points--Life Points. Whoever loses them all first loses the game."

He pursed his lips into a thin line and looked down at his boots. "Though lately... it's gotten a lot more serious than a simple game over boasting rights."

He waited patiently for Yuusei to pick out his words, fairly certain that he'd get an eventual explanation, which he hardly minded waiting a little bit for. He listens intently once Yuusei begins, trying to commit it all to memory... he had to admit that it sounded fairly simple to him, even if he wasn't entirely sure what to think of these "Life Points". What exactly were those supposed to be?

For the moment, however, he's much more occupied with paying attention to Yuusei. Link is a little surprised by the change in attitude, and blinks at him with noticeable bemusement. Was it alright to ask if the older boy was okay?

He looked back at Link, trying his best to push up and out of his sudden lapse into thinking of Kiryu and of the fate of his home hanging in the balance. But it was hard to think of anything else really, having been pulled away so abruptly into a such a curious-looking world. With people to match from other worlds. The confusion was rather apparent on Link's face, and Yuusei couldn't help but smile just lightly, swallowing the memories for the time being and letting them settle into the pit of his gut. "It's... harder to explain that it is to actually play it..."

He flicked through his cards idly and pulls out Stardust Dragon again with a smile, showing Link and offering him the card to have a look at more closely. "It's my favorite," he said. "It's gotten me out of a lot of trouble over the past few days when I was back home..."
