Lightning had left minutes before, and Diana was secretly smiling to herself as she arranged the items she had collected in the village in drawers and on the table as she pleased. Lightning Farron was an Amazon in heart, and Diana felt glad to have met her, and hopefully to have formed a trust and growing friendship. All women were Diana's sisters, so she always hoped for their friendship. It did not always come easily, especially with such no-nonsense women, but Diana managed to soften them. Usually only around her, but it was something.

The knock came as Diana was setting her Amazon colors in a drawer. She closed it away, and instead opened the door to greet her newest visitor. Wearing something less imposing than her traditional costume, she felt a bit more comfortable and at home.

"Welcome, friend," was all she said to greet him.

X smiled and nodded in greeting as she opened the door. "Good evening. I hope my timing is opportune."

He took a moment to size her up. She definitely had a presence; not even in the sense one got from looking at a physically powerful person (X had long since stopped finding that to be intimidating or impressive in itself), although that was certainly there too. But there was that sense of...confidence, the kind that you could only really find from someone who wasn't just determined to succeed, but who knew they had to, because they had other people riding on them and they wouldn't allow themselves to do anything less.

X had sized up a lot of warriors in his day. Diana, he had the feeling, easily ranked up there with the best of them.

"It is well enough, X. I have just met with a woman who could well pass as one of my own Sisters," Diana said fondly. She opened the door wider to allow him in. There was an assortment of odd fruits she had collected set on the table, which she motioned to.

"If you are hungry, please help yourself. I have tried the fruits of this world, and they are all quite delicious and foreign. I have been preparing this room as something like a base of our operations, since I am not currently sharing the space with anyone. Please excuse the slight mess."

It was indeed slight. The assortment of items still on the table and the dresser were things like ropes, bowls and other practical items. There were no weapons, though she had looked for even a simple hunting knife, but they would still be useful, she hoped.

"I don't eat, but I appreciate the offer, thank you," X said as he stepped inside and surveyed the mess -- though it hardly warranted the title, in his opinion. (X's personal definition of a mess was "at least half as bad as Zero's quarters.")

"I have to admit I'm impressed at how well you plan ahead, Diana. I don't know many people who'd rebound so quickly from a situation as...unique as ours."

She smiled, nodding her head. She was not surprised. Diana had expected a man from who she had talked to on the Junogam, but he seemed to be more like Red Tornado or any of the other highly intelligent and highly human androids or cyborgs.

But after her smile, it fell to the more serious, diplomatic expression. "It is unfortunate that I have such experience, but only a week before I arrived here, I had found myself in a rather similar situation. The means through which I arrived and what I had to complete were quite different, but landing in a foreign world without powers requires preparation. Since it is not only myself which I must protect, I must take extra precaution. It is my duty, regardless of where I have landed, to help those in need."

"Unfortunate though it is, I'm glad we have someone around with applicable experience." He'd seen at least one other person say something about having ended up in a strange foreign world before, but they hadn't seemed like the type to jump in and take charge of making sense out of this, and while there were others probably capable of taking charge, it was harder to do that when one had enough adjusting to do on their own. To have someone with both qualities around was an immense stroke of luck on their parts ( ... )
