Characters: littlestlang, roulettespin, von-habsburg and YOU Setting/Location: the kitchen and surrounding area. Date & Time: AFTERNOON TIME Warnings: none so far Summary: Recruiting and cake? I think I've heard that one before.
Eventually, a guy had to get hungry, especially working up a sweat exploring. And Nero--despite everything--could still be called a growing boy. Had to take in a certain amount of calories even if he was lying around doing nothing, which he wasn't, not by a long shot; in some ways, this place was keeping him busier than Fortuna.
Without the demon infestation problem, anyway. Back in the old days, when everything was a little more peaceful--and whole lot more boring.
Where there was a kitchen, and all these people, there was bound to be somebody making food. Nero wasn't about to whip anything together for himself unless he absolutely had to. But it was lunchtime and his stomach was grumbling and he'd seen a couple posts on that junogam network about people heading to the kitchen to make things. And he had a map that pointed right there. It was easy as pie--or easier (Sometimes pie wasn't all that easy.)
Needless to say, Nero was gonna be lurking this place. Something smelled good, and chances were, there might be a little too much of it...
It was times like this that Cassie missed having someone like Jarvis around. His experience of looking after superheroes - and Uncle Stark - for so long had meant there was always a plate or tin of something within easy reach. Then again, it was only the first day. Maybe someone would be doing the same here once everyone was settled in.
She felt a little guilty for thinking that, but a girl could dream.
Plus, someone was here. She peered up at the man currently bustling around from the doorway, and tried to decide whether it was a good idea to announce herself before trying to get up onto the counter.
Probably a good idea. "He- whoa!" A quick jump to the side, and Nero's boot missed her by inches. Not that she'd be that easily hurt if trodden on; being small had its advantages. But it didn't mean she'd enjoy it. "Watch it!"
There were certain things that could generally break Austria's concentration. Someone simply coming into the room was not one of them, but shouting (even if it was rather small sounding) was. He looked up from the bowl where he was mixing the dry ingredients together, blinking when he saw Nero in the doorway. He certainly sounded nothing like the shout that had gotten his attention. "I beg your pardon, did you say something?" He could just be hearing things after all, goodness knows being here was nearly enough to make him question his sanity.
There was a tiny person, and Nero'd almost stepped on it. Well, uh...more like a her, if the voice was anything to go by. Though maybe, since it was a mini-person, it was possible they had a mini-voice, too? Not like it mattered, as long as he hadn't squished it--her, yeah, definitely her--like a bug.
"Whoa." He had to adjust his focus, look down at her, resisting the urge to crouch, scratching the back of his head. "Calm down, I didn't mean anything by it. Just didn't see you there. You're kinda easy to miss, you know."
Thinking about it, it really was her fault more than anything. It wasn't like people were normally used to dodging tiny humans, or even looking for them.
"It was- um, sorry," she called back up, trying to get her voice down to a pitch easier on their ears, "You just surprised me." Ugh, she need to be at eye level. Or at least closer to it than she was now. After a moment's quick searching, she found a part of the counter that didn't look like it had a sink in it. A firm breath and a few seconds of dizziness later, and Cassie was almost at the size of a normal girl. She leant forward onto the countertop, let herself shrink back down before the dizziness got any worse, and was scrambling up onto the surface a second later. There. It was a trick she didn't need to use often, but it had helped on stealth missions a few times.
As long as she didn't need to do that again today, she'd be fine.
Jaime, after he'd moved into his room with what little clothing and supplies he'd acquired in town, was among those who had decided to seek out food of some type on board the caravan. He wasn't all that surprised on discovering a few other people in the room, and nodded politely at them. Of course, he picked up on Cassie almost immediately. One of those useful things Khaji Da did.
"Hey, Cassie. Other guys." He raised a hand in a small wave as he began to rummage about in search of something to eat. Being sent to another world makes you hungry.

Austria was mildly surprised at the tiny person that was in the kitchen. He had seen the little miniature men running around in the caravan and the kitchen, and after seeing Grandore's size he was surprisingly unsurprised that there was something at the other end of the spectrum. The mild surprise turned to something closer to shock when the small person (woman, his brain filled in once she was closer to the proper size) grew, climbed onto the counter and promptly shrank again.
The look of surprise only lasted a moment before his etiquette kicked in, his jaw snapped shut and he nodded. Sorry Jamie, he didn't even really notice that the other young man had come in except in the most cursory of ways. "Good afternoon."
All things considered, Nero preferred his freaky-deaky shit to be pint-sized. Giant flaming demons? A huge problem. Miniature girls? Not so much. Still, he was guarded the way he always was with new people, new weird people, and the way he held himself was pretty tense--not knowing whether or not he should show that arm off and let everyone know he was a serious contender, or keep that arm on the down-low and not freak everybody out.
He kinda knew which one to pick--he'd take whatever's behind door number one--but man, all he wanted was some food.
"Hey." It wasn't too friendly, but it wasn't outright rude, either. No use making more enemies when he had enough of them in this place already, just by sheer dint of being here. And for the mini-chick, he added, "Guess it is. I can hear you better this way, anyway."

"And you don't have to worry about me tying your shoelaces together, so that's a - hey, Jaime! - a plus," Cassie turned to wave at the other hero mid-sentence, and looked back at the two men already in the kitchen to add, "I'm Cassie Lang, by the way. One of your Defense Force, if you... you know, ever need protecting."
Her grin showed that she knew how silly that offer might sound, but with the number of shrinking heroes in Avengers history and the minimen on the Caravan it wasn't actually unheard of. Not that they'd know that. The guy who'd nearly trodden on her looked like he could handle himself in a fight, anyway.
