I do an intermediate foundation class on Saturday mornings, because it is the level doing beginner pointe work. Saturdays is also the day when several of the classes for very little kids are on. On one of the ballet chat boards I read, somebody asked about easy variations to learn. Firstly, since variations are choreographed for professionals to perform, none are exactly 'easy'- even if the steps are relatively easy (e.g. dying swan is mostly courous & port des bras), then the acting part of the performance becomes much harder ( Read more... )

The other night at ballet, I noticed that one of the young girls had a brown mark on the back of her pink leotard. Very occasionally girls do have menstrual accidents, and then I always mention it to them as discreetly as possible, so they can go clean themselves up before anyone else notices.
