Good ballet class

Had an excellent ballet class, got 2 compliments from my teacher, and 1 from the head of the studio. I did a fantastic balance en releve after the petite battements, if I may say so myself. I've reached a point where it is all coming together, although my pitiful plie and my left/right dyslexia are still holding me back. And my arches aren't very good and I don't point my feet enough.

I do feel a bit weird about getting compliments, as I feel that I'm not being judged on the same grounds as the girls are. They get much more criticism about their technique than I do (partly because I'm not doing exams, and partly because I think that Cliff lets me get away with some things because I am older and less malleable as a dancer), but I am often complimented on my approach because I analyse and think about each move. I'd feel better about getting compliments if I got more constructive criticism about things like my posture and my hips.

I hope that i can find a good teacher once we get to Canberra. At least now I know exactly what I want. Cecchetti level 5, 2 classes per week, with a teacher with a strong background in anatomy. That's something I really like about Cliff- he is really good on the biomechanics of what we are doing, which means better technique and less injuries. I'm too old for a bad teacher who will force my turnout and wreck my joints.

Borrowed an excellent book from the library called "The Physics of Ballet". It makes a lot of sense.

Going off to a housewarming this afternoon. Cooking herb quiche.
